Debt Enforcement & Action Ltd Final Reminder Before Court Action Letter

I would agree with the other threads on here (hope you read them) that these are fake docs from a debt collector and should be reported
there is plenty of info on here already so a good read of it should indicate you ignore any paperwork until REAL MCOL papers turn up0 -
Hi iv joined the club too ' final reminder before court action' so who do we report these to?
Its funny i rang citizens advice and they said to me oh you should pay bla blabla. Thanks for nothing. 2011 they sent the charge to me after all this time they send me this.
We all need to report this company and stAnd up for our rights. £170 damages to what? Spelt my last name wrong to lol.
As you all helped and said to ignore i thank you personally for your help. And i think we should take this company down. When i read the letter i got worried thought oh no, do i pay.
But now im not!
Thanks again for your help everyone. And lets find a way to scam them back!0 -
I have received one of these letters also, badly photocopied from Debt Enforcement & Action Ltd on behalf of Civil Enforcement.
My charge relates to April this year (2014) but reading through the various threads as I am in Scotland (and the parking was in Scotland), can I safely assume just to ignore. (Got a bit of a fright when I received it!!)
Same dates for time schedules as those above!0 -
Never posted on forums before, but MAD at these hooligans.
After a genuine 'double-dip incident' at Co-op in 2013 received standard CR**P from CEL. Ignored, but then received the final reminder before court action in September.
Somebody very helpfully provided email address for Steve Murrels (Steve.Murrells@co-operative.coop) at Co-op. Wrote a strongly worded letter explaining the circumstances. Was offered part payment by Co-op. Refused and said that nothing less than FULL payment would be acceptable.
They have arranged to pay DEAL in full.
Part of me would have liked to have gone to court to show how ludicrous CEL / DEAL and their operation is - however if Co-op have to keep paying the bills - hopefully their contracts will get cancelled.
Go after Co-op - DEAL is not even a registered FCA debt collector and Co-op claim to be an 'ethical' company.0 -
Excellent result, and thanks for posting, hopefully giving confidence (and great advice) to others in a similar DEAL/CEL/Co-op situation.Part of me would have liked to have gone to court to show how ludicrous CEL / DEAL and their operation is - however if Co-op have to keep paying the bills - hopefully their contracts will get cancelled.
1. Unlikely scenario, CEL run away when faced with a decent defence. Last time they chanced their arm, going to appeal, the Judge handed them back their a-hole to take back to Exchange Flags, Scouseville.
2. Going to court voluntarily in private parking circumstances is chancy - if you're good at the National Lottery and confident at Russian Roulette (with three chambers loaded), go head on. Otherwise, best avoided, especially when there are other more favourably predictable avenues open to you.
3. My understanding is that the Co-op has already told CEL, some months ago, to pack their bags, hence the extremely nasty, vindictive retaliation against (probably former) Co-op customers. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Has anyone taken a photo of the small print on the COOP Whitby parking sign. I have been told there was a 10 minute grace period but due to the incident being 18 months ago and living 90 miles away I have no way to confirm. I overstayed my welcome by 7 minutes after asking at the tills and being told that parking was free for customers. I never even saw the sign!.
Just in case I have just linked to Coop's facebook page and if this goes any further I think a few lines outlining what has gone on so far may be in order.0 -
Having ignored the dodgy looking 'Final reminder before court action' letter, I'm left wondering when I will know if they are actually going to take me to court.
Never been in this situation before and so I have no experience of the court process.
They said they were going to lodge at Northampton court on 24th September. Would I have heard something by now?0 -
Why are you not complaining to the Co-op vociferously - they paid off another one for someone who shouted loud enough, only a week or two ago.Marcopocus wrote: »Having ignored the dodgy looking 'Final reminder before court action' letter, I'm left wondering when I will know if they are actually going to take me to court.

Yes, I suppose I should for my own peace of mind. It just grates against me to be 'feeding the fire'. If this dodgy lot are being paid off then they are being rewarded for keeping up the pressure on punters.
I'll email today. Steve.Murrells@co-operative.coop0 -

I don't know why you would take that any more seriously than anything else they say. This lot do file court cases, but there's no saying whether they will or will not do so in respect of any individual case. And when a case is defended they never show up in court.Je suis Charlie.0
