Is there any way to collect train tickets.......

Contact the train company and explain your dilemma. I'm sure there would be an easy solution to the problem.
EDIT On the Trainline.com website you are able to pay for the ticket and your son can be sent an e-mail confirmation.

If you have enough time you can ask for them to be posted for a charge. Otherwise, if he's not near you and has no card you may be better transferring the money and telling him to go buy the tickets in person pronto.Keep reading books!

http://help.thetrainline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/256For collection, you must have both:
Debit/Credit card used to make the booking (or any card if accepted - check your booking confirmation)

Hmm, some poor advice in this thread, and some inaccurate claims, but this is good advice from The Groat Counter..The_Groat_Counter wrote: »You can buy an East Coast Gift eVoucher, then use it yourself (gift it to yourself!) in order to buy the ticket.

I think your son will need to have a debit/credit card to insert in the ticket machine in order to collect the tickets, but that can be any card as you'll have already paid for the tickets - he wouldn't be charged. He will need to enter the booking reference though in order to collect the tickets.
You can buy a Gift eVoucher for a custom amount, so buy it for the exact same amount that the ticket costs.
---Edit---
I've just read that he doesn't have a debit card, I'm not sure if the above would work with just the ATM-only card (aka cash card) that he has.0 -
You can get round this by paying for a ticket by PayPal.
Then anyone's card can be used as Id to pick up the ticket from any machine.0 -

That's a bit risky isn't it?

Also remember that any ticket can bought from a ticket office (for less than it would be on thetrainline), if transferring the money would have been easier.0

You just need any card to collect tickets bought from Red Spotted Hanky - they don't offer paypal - but that will overcome the extra cost associated with using trainline
(Maybe there are other sellers that don't insist on using the card that bought the tickets)0
