Have I mentioned how much I despise 5 week months! :(

15 days to next payday. VO is currently at £8.20. Should try do some OP today if I have time.

Next payday my signature should change on house deposit as I have tried to get every penny back to what it was. Finally :) xx

I'm with you on despising 5-week months! They're the work of the devil...

Sounds like you're making great inroads into building the deposit back up to where it was. Glad you've got the focus to do this and not just have the F-it attitude that some (ma, probably) would have and just keep spending :)

I think you'll manage it - you seem really determined and I always think even if it's not looking likely, if you really play around with things, you'll manage to make it work. Alternatively, if it rolls on to May, it's not the end of the world.

Have you seen anything else that you like? Or have you not been looking until you get your deposit back up to where you want it to be?

Yeah, it's crazy how all the costs add up isn't it? When we moved we hadn't properly factored in legal fees, survey costs, stamp duty etc. Well, we knew they were there, we just didn't know how much. We had a small chunk left in savings which we were hoping to use to do bits to the house but the above ate most of it up.

When we moved in, it became clearer how minging the carpets and blinds were (stinking with nicotine) , the oven hadn't been cleaned for (no joke) about 20 years and so these things that we'd been hoping to do gradually had to happen ASAP - £2.5k later (flooring, oven, blinds) we were left with a couple of hundred quid left in savings.

Also think about things like the cost to change your address on driving license (if there is one now), paying a month up front for energy costs like a lot of places want you to do now, sorting out final payments for your old place and up front payments for the new place etc. I just found there were loads of little bitty things that ended up eating up a chunk of money.

Anyway, not trying to put you off! Just trying to reaffirm that you're doing the right thing in waiting until you have a good chunk saved.
