bought a 'pre ordered' iPhone 6 on eBay

Hi all,
I saw a cheap iPhone 6 plus on eBay for roughly £500. The chap said he was selling it cheaper because he has a family member who works for a network and so gets discount on contract (unwanted upgrade apparently).
It seems pretty cheap for an iPhone 6 plus, especially a 128gb one!
He says he will send it out on Friday when it's released but i'm not hopeful at all, I just thought it was worth a try because at least I can get my money back from paypal if he does not send it.
What I need to know, is that what can happen if he sends a different item completely..... if I sign for it then I say he's lying, how can I prove that he/she sent a completely different item? Their word against mine surely?
Thanks all!

That's not really answering my question..
I bought it because it's a good price for what it is, seeing as I like apple products, and the integration with OS X on my mac.. I have been with Android for years and want a change.0 -
No its not an answer - as I said just curios about what people spend their hard earned on.....as an Ebayer .......;)As Martin says - please be nice - there is no such thing as a stupid question !

Then you open an item not as described case. Send it back via special delivery. Upload the tracking info and PayPal should refund you.
Be aware he could also send the phone then a few months down the line claim it's stolen/lost and have it cut off. At which point he will have your cash and a new phone via his insurance.Sigless0 -
That's £500 you won't see again0

The usual scam is to wait long enough so it is too late to open a claim, then make an insurance claim so the phone is rendered useless and blocked.
you are then £500 out of pocket with a worthless bit of plastic.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Things that seem too good to be true on the internet often are. Proceed with extreme caution, you stand to lose a lot of money. Is taking the chance really worth it?0 -

This goes two ways and it's human nature to comment on it.
1) You know you have done wrong, but don't need telling and just want someone to offer a solution.
2) Other users will have some solutions, but need to get off of their chest the idiotic thing you have done.
Be nice to the users, accept there will be a bit of "I can't believe you did that" and hopefully you'll get some answers that get you out of this hole.0 -
It was on the news last night that even though it is officially released on Friday, Apple have said that nobody will receive it until at least October - how is he confident he will have his on Friday?0
