Refunded / non delivery claim / partial refunds

  • True - but I believe a lot of these scammers are "part timers" ,just trying it on , now and again ,three or four times a year perhaps ( especially around Christmas time ) for a freebie every now and again ,so 30 days would not be enough to capture they're activities

( could even comprise of a very small number of sellers who've been scammed in the past want to recoup some funds perhaps )

These kind of people tend to back down, we had one of these casual types a while back "it's fake", "no it's not, here's how to contract the rights owner", followed by "it doesn't work", "return it we'll test it and then replace it plus cover your return", "can't be bothered", "up to you", "will leave bad feedback", "will report you for asking for a refund without returning the goods", and at long last, silence.

  • true - they tend to back down , but not 100% and a lot of small time Ebayers ( myself included here ) are bothered that bad feedback , even if it knocked a pound or 2 off each listing would add up eventually

    - I think showing or allowing their previous full / partial refund returns history to be accessed ( as you can scan through feedback anyways ) ,would put them off trying it - if not so often , knowing that you can see that they regular claim 3 or 4 times a year for complete or partial refunds

Can't argue with that, problem is I just can't see eBay doing it, they've gone the opposite way and taken away some of the tools to detect abuse (bidding history and reduction of data on the feedback page which isn't a problem for me personally as you can tell a chancer by what they say and how they react to certain things) and want you to rely on them to take action when suspected abuse is report.

Which makes sense, I don't feel sellers should be the judge of a buyer's behaviour, eBay have a much bigger picture to look at, problem is they only seem to take effective action when abuse is really, really bad.

So you buy a piece of tat on Ebay that is sold as something decent, you waste two days sending it back and negotiating with the seller and Ebay to return it at no extra cost AND then you get a black mark against your ID for the privilege?

Can't see that doing well at keeping buyers on Ebay.

  • I wouldn't want too many buyers like this on Ebay

I tend to agree. I can't see buyers being happy at being penalised for exercising their legal rights.

  • Hardly being penalised just having it highlighted is it ? - if the buyer hadn't mentioned in his own feedback about refunds for non receipt , then given his 100% feedback , who would know that there is a problem perhaps with that particular.......area

So giving sellers the right to block and refuse sales for buyers exercising their legal rights is ok? Even if the problem originates with the seller.

And why would a buyer be expected to mention in feedback reasons for any refunds given?

Also why you think any seller would take the trouble to search the history of all potential buyers is beyond me unless the seller in question is only making a few sales a month and has time to waste. Most sellers are too busy to being doing that type of thing.

Yes there are some terrible buyers around and ebay dose seem to bring out the worst.

But there is equally some dreadful sellers around who also work the system in their favour.

and relax.....who on earth mentioned blocking and refusing sales ....missed that , where is it mentioned ? , if a buyer had at least 3 -4 items gone missing but refunded for in the last 6 months ,I would be a little interested in it ,if I was sending something to them ( one item over £100 )

Yes it is beyond you "why you think any seller would take the trouble to search the history of all potential buyers is beyond me " - again not potential buyer - a buyer

Whether the seller sells a few things a month or a thousand theyre still Ebay sellers and dont deserve to get ripped off
