What price did you pay for these Gold ingots? What weight and purity are they?

I only ask because you could use them as a (very) short term investment.
  • Can someone please confirm which legislation is in force when returning goods online. Is it within 14 days from the day after you receive the goods or 14 days from the day you receive the goods? Being told conflicting information and not sure where I stand in relation to getting a refund from an online company. Thanks Cathflan79

Assuming that you are returning simply due to a change of mind then the regulation that applies is the Consumer Contracts Regulations. You have until the end of the 14th day after the day on which the goods come into your possession to notify the seller that you want to cancel. You then have 14 days after the day on which you cancel to return the goods.
  • So just to clarify if I was to return the goods to the company in 14 days from the day after I received the goods but hadn't informed them of the cancellation (as I thought returning the goods would be enough evidence of a cancellation) then I am not entitled to a refund?

Did you return the goods by itself, or enclose a letter that explained that you were looking for a refund?
  • I returned it with the return form completed and the original invoice. The company I used are saying that they didn't receive it until the 15th day as they said the 14 days start from the day I received the product and sent me the following from government legislation gov.uk/accepting-returns-and-giving-refunds online sales, mail and phone order sales. Should I go by this legislation?
  • Well to be fair, it's legislation - you don't have a choice of 'going by it' or not, it's law.
If they've correctly quoted the legislation and it applies to you, you're not entitled to a refund.
  • It's just very frustrating as I spoke to trading standards and they said the company are wrong and that they should go by the consumer contracts (information, cancellation & additional charges). So don't know where I stand.
  • Hopefully an expert in the new legislation will be along soon - I've had a read, and can't grasp some parts (it's getting late!)
I hope that if you are correct, that they'll oblige and refund you. :)
  • I'm the same so confused and the company said I can have a credit note which I must use in 14 days. So near to know if I am correct in pursuing this. :(
