Dreading carpet fitting....convinced something will go wrong :(
    I sympathise, believe me! Beautiful-carpet-with-no-hassle vibes.:o

Thanks for the supportive comments re HMRC; unfortunately I have no choice but to pay them - and they only gave me til tomorrow or they start charging interest.:(
For the past five years, they've adjusted my tax code to accommodate what I need to pay them via PAYE; for some reason they can't/won't do that this time. Mr LW called them for me, and all the sense he could get from them was "The System won't let us do it". I can only assume the rules have changed, as I then got an adjusted tax code, which was higher than the one they originally assigned me this year. *shrugs*. It means I won't pay quite so much tax on my pension, but it's a big hit to have to find at short notice. Luckily I haven't spent this month's DLA yet, as I've been running the cupboards down, but the other side of that coin is I shall have a big re-stocking shopping list to deal with when the kitchen's done.

Talking of which..... the "carcases" of the cupboards are in, and the tiling where the boiler goes is up (just needed grouting when I last saw it). The Chief Kitchen Fitter has been hard at work all morning, and his cohort has now joined him - presumably there's some heavier work to be done this afternoon that requires two of them.

Mr LW and I have spent a good two hours decluttering weeds and other general detritus from the front garden - including a load of builders rubble from when the bungalow was built!!:eek:
So although we can't Fly in the bungalow, we've been doing so outside. We've stopped for the day now; we've both Had Enough (and in any case, the wheelie bin's full); and I don't want him over-exerting himself - he's been wielding the "garden claw" and the digging fork, I've been on hands and knees removing as much tap root as possible.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Thank you for all the coping vibes and hugs. Dealing with someone controlling is very hard, he has stopped the DD for the mortgage on several occassions before reinstating again before next payment became overdue (at his late father's insistence) based on my "poor behaviour" and "forgetting who's house it is". I often hear the gem of "If I can't get you to leave the house, I will quit my job, then the bank will force you to leave, I will still be in my Mum's bedroom so nothing will change for me.....but think about what YOU do to the kids by YOUR choices!"

Once the house I am associated with gets missed payments, CCJ's, repossessed, I can kiss goodbye to ever working back in Financial and Insurance Sectors again once I can get back to the Old Skinty assuming the BD has been put down for good or had obedience lessens to keep it on a very tight leash. Plus all my lines of credit will disappear in a puff of smoke overnight, so my ability to manage in the short term and for my longer term future earning to get myself straight will be taken away.

It's easy to say he is bluffing and I should call him out, but if I am ready to push the Nuclear Device then I need to be ready to deal with the radiation fall out on the young Skints (SH teens with BD's and major upheavals can easily end in tragedy)

So humble pie will be on the menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Skint Ritz for the forseeable future.

I am keeping my eyes open for freebies again after my success with the wood to make what I have left stretch as long as I can. I managed to recover 8 big Spanish onions from the roadside, going blackberry picking later, and seen a pear tree that I have earmarked for windfalls over the next few days and a similarly a plum tree near to the horsepiddle, but I am not due back that way now until 30th, so they might have all fallen by then.

Thinking about researching sea fishing from the sea wall at high tide, as EX's dad had sea fishing rods as well as regular angling rods, and they are all left down the cellar untouched.

DD3 has kindly agreed that the need and welfare of animals cannot take precedence over that of the Skint family unit, so has agreed to step back from vegan to vegetarian for the forseeable future, so less electricity used for meals and less wastage on the food budget as suitable for Vegans stuff is always so exorbitantly priced and it means free protein from nice NDN's free range eggs.

WUDUPA and WM x 2 and great laundry hunt has taken place, been to horsepiddle this morning and had more metal fixed in my mouth ready for Friday, go to go back to GP AGAIN to queue up to try and get appt for this afternoon to get meds to send AF on holiday.

Right out of time, got to fly! be back later
The cold never bothered me anyway
  • hugs skinty. hope things sort themselves out soon and life starts handing you some better cards.

  • Well they were waiting when I got home from work. Can't wait to see it finished....roll on Friday when she in it cos I'm fed up of it now lol

*coping vibes* for you Skint. It sounds as though you are in a difficult place due to your Ex. I hope you finally manage to get some peace while you are having your jaw fixed, and that little oasis will prove useful in sorting out a way forward.

Frodders, I had thought you might have a connection with the poppy project. I'd love to hear how the planting goes - I had thought about volunteering, but we're 250 miles away and ... I just didn't. Thank you for includng him in your thoughts.

It sounds to me as if ebeast has basically decided that it doesn't really want people who sell little and often any more. My local hospice shop is doing rather well out of me because of that - much less hassle, really happy volunteers when you take good stuff in and no complaints.

Front steps de-pigeon poohed and scrubbed. *yuk*
