This year there was a 21 day med cruise for £800 + flights if you could leave on the 13dec
Trouble with Xmas pubs get crowded kids are off school shops full of rubbish and Easter stuff and RUBISH TV
GO AWAY.
Do you have a link to the cruise please?
I agree, I've had some really good & cheap holz on the run up to C! But unfortunately could never afford C & New Year prices, so had to return on 24 December. Although a bit of sunshine & missing the build up was a real bonus0 -

I think if people do or dont want to celebrate it then its upto them and if they dont then fair enough.
I personally think its mainly about the shops making as much money as possible. I think its more important for people to be genuinely supportive and kind to family and friends throughout the year. Not in terms of money, but in terms of being there for them etc.
OF course, in the ladies case she was probably very happy that way, but I mesnt sad in general with ref to the other post about the abject loneliness of others ie. Alone at such times.0 -
I think perhaps a lot of people feel depressed around that time, as the pressure to have the 'perfect' Christmas takes its toll.
Me, I like Christmas, but not what it has become. I prefer the spiritual side of it. I'm the same with Easter, too.The report button is for abusive posts, not because you don't like someone, or their opinions0 -
You could enquire now and volunteer to help Crisis at Christmas, or similar.
Do you have any skills or enthusiasms to offer?
The true meaning and possibilities of Christmas and faith in action would quickly become clear, reward and engage you and the people you meet.

People seem to think it's just us singles who may only have the Tv for company that don't enjoy Christmas, but i'm sure it's a time of hell for many families. They may get on Ok and think they're happy when most of the hours in day are taken up with work and commuting, but when they're at home and under each others feet patience can be hard to find.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

What I find hard is that I have a big family who go mad buying loads of presents and there is such pressure to keep up. Of course people say, just tell them you cant afford it, but believe me its not that simple.
I do enjoy a bit of time off work to relax with my husband and teenage kids and I enjoy seeing other close family but I do this at other times of the year too.
Mince pies and the bottle of Baileys my Mum always buys me, now thats a different matter.0 -
This has just popped up on my newsfeed so I thought I'd share it with you

Perhaps I should have said I still live at home with Mum if that wasn't clear from my post.
I am also very unhappy being sick (8 years and counting, getting progressively worse still no diagnosis), single (for ever) and still living at home at my age.
That doesn't mean I don't love my Mum dearly which I do. Indeed when she broke her wrist last year just before Xmas I willingly ran round for 2 days making sure she had a nice time even though I was ill and exhausted. Must have done 5 loads of washing up over 2 days lol even with a much pared down Xmas lunch and getting contributions for Boxing Day food from family who came round.
Good for you if you are happy but I am not and there is nothing to say I have to be in my circumstances. Most days I carry on pretending things are better than they are and put a smile on my face. However Christmas is a bugbear where I cannot be all "yeah that's fine I love spending Christmas sick, single and stuck at home with just Mum like pretty much every other Xmas or an ordinary day".
So please no advice about keeping positive and making things what they are. I do what I can but cracks will out and Christmas is one of them.
Not looking for a Hallmark Christmas just something I haven't done every time for the past 26 years or even one in better circumstances would be wonderful.
Go out for a walk or something, I often go out on Xmas day for a ride round on my bike and there are loads of people out and about in the countryside/parks. Even people just by themselves.
If you cant get out get yourself some DvDs or books and music to listen to and just chill out at home. It doesnt have to be a really miserable day. Or you could do some baking if your interested in that.0
