Weird electrical problem

The fact that both items work from the same socket when you move the radio away from the lamp can only mean the lamp is causing some kind of RF interference.
Would this setup consist of a DAB radio and an energy saving lamp per chance?Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -

Just what I was thinking!Perfection takes time: don't expect miracles in a day0 -

Yes, DAB and an LED lampbulb - is that the reason? As I am a laywoman when it comes to electrics it wouldn't have occured to me though it does make sense.
Right - all other combos worked. Will try lamp and radio in a different room, although the second bedroom does have exactly the same make/model of lamp and radio so will have a try there.
All this fiddling with wires is a right PITA - but thanks chaps.0 -
Nail. Hit. Head.
A quick trip upstairs to the other room confirmed the same problem. Radio working fine (DAB), turn lamp on, radio goes dead.
Well done for figuring it out - don't suppose there's any easy solution apart from moving the radio back the other side of the bed again? Domestic skirmishes last thing at night are not nice. I may have to change sides myself.
Anyway, thanks for the attention and suggestions, as usual, much appreciated.0 -

In order of cheapness (cheapest at the top)
1. Move the radio.
2. Change the LED lamp for a normal incandescent version.
3. Fit a better quality aerial to the radio (if it allows for it).
4. Buy a better quality bedside light fitting.
5. Buy a better quality DAB radio.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car

Thanks again.
Last night we changed sides and I couldn't sleep! :rotfl: Not changing the lamp, can't change the aerial so will look at a different radio. The ones we have are Roberts which I thought to be a good make so I will have to do some research. Don't want to buy without knowing that interference won't be a problem.

Tried various radios now and all affected -Pure, Intempo and a couple of Roberts - and all same result. Then noticed that the same happens with my Duralit DAB radio in the kitchen when I turn on the induction cooker! Luckily that's of no real matter.
Right, tomorrow I'm going to buy other lamp bulbs and removed the two bedside ones.0 -
Final update...bought 'old fashioned' spiral energy saving bulbs and both radios and bedside lamps now work at the same time. It's a shame about the bulbs although they actually come on almost instantly and are instantly bright.
Thanks for all the advice, certainly saved us from night time grumpiness!

Didn't change the lamps - just the bulbs.0
