    I have the combo too and use it daily - would be lost without it!

    I tend to use mine for the bulk of cooking as the oven is a good size for a small round grill or small casserole dish and from a MSE point of view - it is far cheaper to run than my big oven as it heats up quicker and has a smaller area to heat. And I can use a double tray to cook two things at once.

    Grilled fish, jacket spuds, chicken ...many more I find cook perfectly on a combo convection/grill setting. I hardly ever use the MW part of it and for one or two people, I would imagine it is much more cost effective.

  • I don't use anything else, except the toaster. Mind you, I wouldn't recommend it if you like to appreciate the taste of your food (to me it's just fuel). On the health issue, I never buy the MW ready-meals with sauces and other stuff with additives; you can get quite a lot of stuff that has been frozen without adding much in the way of chemicals and toxins. Having said that, if I had kids, I would learn to cook.

    I loved thriftlady's saying about food and great grandmothers; a very good rule.

    use mine its a combo, great money saver, also try cooking carrots with 2 tblspns water, cling film, or pyrex lid for about 6 mins in microwave, tastes like carrots should, also use microwave for steamed puddings, cakes, brilliant, just mix throw in ping cooked, eaten

    I use mine for precooking veg for a few minutes before putting it in the slow cooker, for cooking rice, and warming up soups, baked beans etc. I also use it for heating through sponge puddings. I had one when I first got married, and then when that one wore out I happily did without one for about 10 years before I was given one as a christmas present a couple of years ago.

    Like Belfastgirl I use mine for porridge every morning (must be a Norn Iron thing as I'm from there too).
    Also cook veg in it as it's quicker than steaming, uses a lot less water & if you get the timing right does very good crisp & colourful veg with less loss of vitamins.
    Also use it for reheating/defrosting HM stuff - less pans to wash up!

    Only thing we use ours for is that lovely 2 for 1 mircowave popcorn they sell in Tesco!

    We just use ours for defrosting, jacket spuds and occasionally heating up soup. We rarely eat microwave meals.

    Never, ever. We don't have one and haven't had for many years. Do the research, blasting food with microwave radiation is bad for it and can alter protein chains - lots of stuff out there indicating you can end up sick eating nuked food. Plus it kills everything, a home made soup will have a far better vit/enzyme count. Finally I can't stand the taste, I can taste a nuked baked potato a mile off, awful - even if it's finished in the oven.

    I do sometimes eat ready food, but only oven warmed and only if it's got no 'e's in it. I also get no indigestion and lethagy after food as a bonus!
