Got an ald*s voucher and ran amok, spent £40 - £5 so £35, but shared shop with Mother, so worked out my portion was £24. Takes me more over budget to £232 but I now have lots of stuff in ready for november. I am disappointed to not have stayed within my £200, but it is still an enormous reduction on some of my previous monthly spends of excess of £700. Am trying not to be too downcast.
Don't be disappointed, you have done very well. try to see a bigger picture, if by going over a bit in one month but have plenty in for the next, then overall you will reduce your annual spending.I see the challenge as aiming to reduce total grocery spending and although I am using last years monthly figures as a guide, its not set in stone.
That's a really impressive reduction well done.Slimming World at target0 -
Ah, Xspender, it's you! I put it on the November thread, thanking the op for the phrase Meatless Monday! Now I know it's you, I can get thank you properly! Thanks!! We often have MM in my house, as we're not home until six, so we plump for soup, but I'm going to make it an official thing in my house now!

Small spend of £8.16 today so now up to £185.66
Lunch today was hm mushroom soup and toast. It was delicious and much better than other ones I have made.
Small chopped onion
1 clove garlic crushed
Some finely chopped mushrooms (used the small white ones)
Sweat all these together without adding much colour (about 15 mins) then add a chicken stock cube or proper stock and some milk.
Simmer gently for a while then I thickened with some corn flour let down with milk and added some sweet corn I found in the freezer and some chopped parsley.
To say there was no cream in it, it was really creamy tasting. (used skimmed milk as its what we have)
Tonight we had steak with salad potatoes and salad.
Will be shopping on Thursday so will declare final amount afterwards.MARCH £62.38/2500 -

You will find it a bit easier this month, especially as you now have a head start for November and a better idea of what you are trying to achieve ehPennyGrabber wrote: »Ah, Xspender, it's you! Think that's a great idea CP - at least you are still in control eh. As you can see I'm biting my nails too. Washing stuff is being eeked out and the Fa*ry has been watered down  Meals are coming from freezer, thank goodness, so we might just might make it. However there are only the two of us and no half-term to worry about :rotfl: Good luck pal - I'll be thinking of you with fingers xd.
Thanks!! I allocated an extra £50 to get me over half term. Spent £39 today in Mr T's (should have been 44, but had a £5 off £40 spend). Got more than enough in now, including quite a bit of meat to make nice dinners. Still got a little bit in purse for milk (won't need bread) so at least I know that I now won't go totally crazy and give up!
Better update sig while I can.... Haven't been able to get on site hence the late reply!
