PS4 or Xbox One?

I've owned both.
I swapped my xbox one for PS4. Whilst the xbox is a great machine, its only benenfits over the PS4 are the media capability. As I already have Sky, Smart TV home cinema system, I didn't need it really.
I much prefer the game play on the PS4 and there's no arguing that the PS4 IS more powerful. At the moment there isn't really much difference in game quality as the developers aren't anywhere close to using the full capability of either machine, but once they do, the PS4 should stand head and shoulders above the xbox.0 -

Quite right. The PS4 is more future-proof than the XBONE. What's REALLY sad about it, though, is that developers will likely often reduce the gameplay and graphical possibilities just so that they still work on the XBONE well, when the PS4 could happily handle a lot more. But then again, this could easily mean that a couple years down the line, the PS4 will begin releasing some incredible new IPs just for that console because its the only console capable of realising the vision, leaving the XBONE in its wake.0 -
Playstation 4 by a country mile.
Better graphics (xbox doesnt have full HD)
Better controllers
Xbox is more a box that does many things that other boxes under your telly do.
Playstation is for gamers0 -

But don't forget, the PS4 still does most of the functions you'd want from a media centre anyway. It's got all the main on demand players for your watching pleasure so I don't see the xbox as snuffing the PS4 out in that way at all either.0 -

Oh dear, what nonsense! The majority of new xbox one games run at 1080P and this will only continue as a)developers get used to the hardware and b)new directx is released and becomes standard. Destiny performs identically on both systems.

The xbox one controller is regarded as being a better controller as it's very similar to the 360 controller, has much better battery life and the sticks are in the right place ;-)
Xbox One has Titanfall, Forza 5 (PS4 still waiting on drive club?) as exclusives. Over then next 12 months there is Forza Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive, Halo 5, Halo collection, Scalebound, Quantum Break, Fable Legends, Crackdown 3 and the new Tomb Raider will also be a timed exclusive
Both consoles will improve over the years and their output will far outperform what anyone expects. Look at the original batch of games on the xbox 360 and PS3 and compare them with how games looked just before the new consoles came out. I started with Project Dark Zero and Forza 2 on the 360 and ended with GTA5. If anyone thinks that there won't be much in the way of evolving games and graphics over the next 5-6 years with the xbox one and PS4 then I'd suggest they know nothing about the subject.0 -
Loved my PS3....Good mead centre and worked really well. Upgraded to PS4 knowing that the media stuff might be an issue but went anyway with it. Gaming is great but was limited to the games that can really take advantage of the system. All being said, for a gaming machine its super, and im yet to really dive into it to find out what out can do. Im sure as other have said the games will slowly catch up with it so all in all happy with it0

I've been out of the console market for quite a few years now, but still I recognise this kind of bizarre fanboyism...Better graphics (xbox doesnt have full HD)
Subjective (and incorrect)Better controllers
Again subjective, and given the global controversy surrounding the poor build quality and materials of the PS4 controller, rather inaccurate.Xbox is more a box that does many things that other boxes under your telly do.
Bit of an odd 'complaint'. Are you bothered that your phone also does email, web-browsing and can take photos?Playstation is for gamers
They are both for gamers... hence the games.0 -

Xbox is for people who want a media hub. You can watch sky on it, use it as a media player easily.
Ps4 built the console around games first.
The controllers of the new ps4 are outstanding ive used both xbox and ps4 . Ps4 is nicer to use as controllers. PS3 controllers were worse than 360s but they have improved them.
Sonys kit is better hardware itself for games. But the xbox is better for a media centre that also plays games.
Lots of rumours running around the interweb that Watchdogs graphics were toned down because it looked a lot crisper on the ps4 to the xbox and microsoft didnt want this showing up on one of the biggest launches of the year.
I am in no way a "fan boy" I have owned a ps2, ps3, xbox, ps4 and n64. I go with what I believe at the time has the best system for me. And playstation have outsold microsoft on this generation console so just goes to prove many agree with me.
Microsoft have now told developers to forget about making games involve kinnect services so they can use more of the processing power for games because they couldnt keep up with ps4.0 -
I've been saying for years the future will be one box that does it all, and this is it. I can go from watching TV, to playing a game, to surfing the net with a few clicks of the controller.
Although thank you for referencing the highlight feature for the consoles this gen. Xbox successfully brought online gaming from PC to console, 360 and PS3 brought "HD"(ish) gaming from PC to console, and this generation the Xbone and PS4 have introduced alt-tab.(It may sound like I'm mocking it, but it's really a great feature to have, as Carl31 says!)

Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
Its no use if an playstaion doesnt run an gaming CD, Sell your PS3 on local bargain sites like Nextonly or ebay. And go for PS4.
PS4 seems to be the gamer's choice. Its PlayStation Plus service is great, it's significantly more powerful and we think the controller is a bit better. If you want to save some money, though, you can get far better deals for the Xbox One at this point.0
