PS4 or Xbox One?

Options
My husband currently has a PS3 - it is no longer reading games discs, it will play dvds and blue-rays but not games discs - very strange!

He is considering selling this (he will obviously let people know that the console is faulty just with games discs). Is it worth selling or should we just get rid of it?

He is driving me crazy with 'shall i get an xbox one or a ps4'?

I don't really care if i am honest but what do you guys think? Its a lot of money to make a mistake.

Thanks in advance.

neither is backwards compatible so it doesn't make any difference really. We got xbox one because there are more games suitable for younger children 7+.. ps4 games all seem to be 16+

ps4 games are slightly more expensive than xbox one ones.

I don't use either.. I play candy crush on my phone :)

First of all yes sell the 360 on ebay, even list it as useful for spares. Whether he gets a Xbox One or a PS4 is a personal preference, what games does he play on the PS3 ? Is there a copy of that game on the PS4 ? eg Last of us.

As for more games suitable for younger children 7+, well they are about the same on both consoles according to game.

Pretty much 50/50. If he is happy with PS3 then he would probably be most comfortable with a PS4. Personally, I don't like the PS controllers and for me the exclusives on the xbox are better but it's all a matter of preference. The games are pretty much identical to the naked eye and the latest release Destiny looks and performs exactly the same. Oh and it would depend on what any of his friends have got as with the xbox, him and a friend can share games digitally between each other so they can half in and both play it.

Thanks so much for that. I will list it on eBay for him.

I understand that it is personal preference as to which console - he's just driving me mad about something i know nothing about lol.

I think i am going to suggest the xbox one as he has always had play stations and maybe this would be a good change.

He needs to make decision asap before he drives me completely round the bend lol.

    Lol

ifstar pointed out a good point re sharing games if both have the same console.

I cant decide which 1 to get either.

What games does he play, football, driving games, GTA 5 ?

He mainly plays fifa and the majority of his friends have got an xbox one now but he has never had one - hes always had ps but i get the impression he wants me to make the decision and then he can blame me if he doesn't like it lol.

Tell him to sell the console as spares and repairs on ebay, they are still worth something. Depending on the games you have, either sell as a lot, or some that are relatively new (lets say if they came out this year) then sell on its own for maximum profits.

Tell him I said get a PS4! You get more value for your money, if he's a PS3 user then he will be very happy with the improvements, the XBONE is a rip off and Xbox is no longer the top dog, it's all about the PS4, time to be where the rest of the world of gamers are! :T

EDIT: If he plays games online, then despite my aggression towards the rip off the Xbox is, I'd actually say get whatever his friends have. If they want to play online together, then get whatever his friends have, thats most important to find people to play with.

I have both, Daniella, and have both the PS3 and Xbox 360. Of the latter two, the 360 was my favourite but the PS3 was excellent too.

At the launch of the new generation consoles, I went for the PS4 first and it's a great console, it really is. Then I was lucky enough to get the Xbox One too and I have to admit, I like it better than the PS4, I really do, and if I could only have one it would be my Xbone. I can't even rationalise why either, I just prefer playing it. :)

But your other half has to make a decision based on something, lol! I think if I were him, and my friends had Xbones and I liked to game with them, then I'd go for the Xbone. Failing that, I'd see what console exclusive games are coming out and if there were ones that I really, really wanted, then their console would be the one I'd get.

There you go then, get an Xbox as majority of his friends have one.

I have Xbox one, i love the fact its an 'all in one' box

I've been saying for years the future will be one box that does it all, and this is it. I can go from watching TV, to playing a game, to surfing the net with a few clicks of the controller. Plus smart glass is cool
