When she posted on CAG she added icons to the post. When she cut and pasted the icons just got turned into "icon" at the end of the word. She bought the thing from Amazon directly.

Amazonicon is obvs a auto correct of Amazon (and yes I did copy and paste from one forum to another).
I bought it from Amazon directly - not a seller !!!!
200 pound break down is
70 for duvet cover - from john lewis
80 for actual duvet - duck and down king size
50 for topshop jeans
Notanewuser - tried non acetone remover, but the polish, most annoyingly, was black and gold glitter and the duvet cover is white - so it won't completely come out and the stain on the duvet itself is not budging. Apparently hairspray was an option but that didn't work either.
Apple have said not to put any chemical on it as it may damage the screen (no protector, just a hard back cover) further and to wait until Amazon respond.0 -
Forget about what 'could have happened'. It didn't, so you can't claim anything for it.
If you want to pursue this for the £200 you say it will cost to replace the damaged items, you may find Amazon request receipts/some kind of proof that the items that are damaged did indeed cost you £200 and not £20. And if they weren't brand new, you most likely won't get the full price you paid.0 -
£200 for jeans, duvet & cover? You're 'aving a larf.
Not in my house - jeans from Hobbs £70, duvet from John Lewis £150, duvet cover from £40 to £100+. Jeans alone can be over £200, it depends on where you shop. If the OP can prove her losses then that's what they are, regardless if you could buy a similar item cheaper from Primark or a market stall.0 -
I pay for everything on a debit or credit card so will have proof of purchase on a bank/CC statement, no worries.
I don't understand the shock of 200 quid, i think that price is pretty average. If apple can replace the screen then I'm guessing that will be 150 isn - never had to replace a screen before so not sure of price
Everything is less than 10 months old.....Really gutted about the duvet set as it is no longer available - and yes I've even looked on ebay to see if there is a BN set that someone purchased in the sale and is trying to sell for a mark up.
I'm going to send a formal letter of complaint to Chris North, with photos and costs of purchases and request a response within 14 days from date of letter before I send a LBA,0 -
You would only be entitled to the value of the damaged items taking into account their age and condition, not what they would cost new.
Second hand jeans/quilt cover etc. unlikely to be worth more than about £50 in total.0 -
Well I've decided to claim for full reimbursement of everything i paid for at the time, considering the age....If things were over 18 months i prob wouldn't bother, If they decide to replace the iPhone, then yes i will accept a refurbished iPhone but for health and safety reasons I WILL categorically only accept brand new items that touch the skin !!!
The fact that they have tried to fob me off with 10 pounds, then upped it to 15 and also removed the product from their website, they know there is a concern.0 -

They are unlikely to supply you with the items (where would Amazon get 2nd hand clothes?), more likely to give you the money towards them with some deduction.
So for example, if they say that jeans would have an average life of 3 or 4 years, they will take or a quarter or a third off the original price. So you would end up with £33-£37.
You may get the whole amount back, but you should be aware that you equally may not, nor are entitled to.
The removal of the item from the website is just something a responsible retailer would do whether your claim was true or not. They will have to look into it to see if it was a one off or an issue with the manufacture of the product. The outcome for them should they not do this, then have it explode in someones eyes, would not be good.0 -
that was whole argument with them to start with - that the outcome could have had dire circumstances and their initial nonchalant attitude was appalling.
It took 5 phone calls, 7 emails, a phone call to their corporate switchboard who actually put me through to their legal department, just to get a 15 pound acknowledgement and for them to remove it.
Had it not caused any MD in the first place and i just asked to be refunded the cost of the purchase (3.99), then that nail polish would more than likely still being sold by amazon directly.0 -
