Weekly Comps - another suggestion

Just to add my thoughts
I would love to see all the regular comps on the main board so no-one misses out that way, plus you can track exactly what you have entered on any given day.
Then it would just need the 'Regular' thread updated quickly with a link to the comp posted on the main board. Either the person posting the comp should update in Regulars themselves, or (if short on time or posting lots of other comps on that day) they could add a note when they post on main board to ask someone else to update the comp in Regulars (just like people do to ask things to be added to dailies etc). This is similar to how the mag dailies work isn't it?
This would also mean that comps which have been 'resurrected' (e.g. on FB/TW) but have been 'locked' in Regulars won't be missed. It would also cut down on dupes as people can confine their searches to the main board, and the updates in Regulars will simply be links back to the main board.
This is meant to be a simple workaround once the Regulars have been 'cleaned up' a bit. What does everyone think?=^._.^= You will always be lucky if you know how to make friends with strange cats =^._.^=0 -

I thought the plan was to get rid of the weeklies in the regular section, and just have them on the main board (like the monthlies are), so i guess the regular section would be renamed -daily comps-.0 -

That's true comping cat, but it also may depend on how the following is resolved; to quote One-Eye
Weeklies are those you enter once a week (whether they are open all week or just for one day each week).
There are two fundamental types - "Ongoing" comps that run weekly but have no overall end date, and "Standard" comps which run every week until the final known end date of the promotion. It would be much easier if we have the same posting rule irrespective of which of these two types the comp falls into.
As I understand it, weekly comps with an 'open' end date can't be posted on the main board, so that will need resolving before the Regulars thread can be amended to a 'Daily' only.
ATM the poll is indicating that over 75% of people want weekly comps to be posted on the main board, but as only 85 people have voted I'm not sure how representative it is of forum users' views yet :undecided I'll give the poll thread a bump to see if we can gather more opinions=^._.^= You will always be lucky if you know how to make friends with strange cats =^._.^=0 -

I would assume, that if we stop the weeklies thread, then it wont matter about the different types of weekly - each week they will be posted on the main board. If they ever end, then there will be nothing to post (and saves the expired ones still being in the weekly thread, another problem having the weeklies in the regular section).0 -

So, in theory, the set/agreed rule will be post each and every week regardless of weekly comp type
It will be interesting to see the exact list of comps that will need to be listed each week initially (and obviously new competitions will add to the total in due course)... I understand that the idea was for volunteers to pick which one/s they are willing to do weekly, and then everyone will be able to see the volumes we are talking about.=^._.^= You will always be lucky if you know how to make friends with strange cats =^._.^=0 -

I think we first need to get rid of all the deadwood including those locked threads, to give us a better idea of the volumes we are talking about. If it were possible for those locked threads to be unlocked, so that we could post to say if it was still live or not, then perhaps the old rubbish could be moved to game over.0 -
I haven't forgotten about going through the thread and seeing which comps are still live, just haven't had a moment over the past few days. I will do my utmost to get down to it tomorrow! x0

Haha - that makes two of us. Although, I doubt I will have much chance until next weekend. I have bumped a few that I have checked out. I haven't sent a PM to a board guide yet, to ask if the dead ones can be moved to game over. I don't really understand what the locked threads are. Surely, if they are dead, they should go to game over and not stay on the regulars board. Is there something I don't understand about it though?0 -
All threads on mse are automatically locked if they haven't been posted on in 12 months, I can go and unlock them all if someone wants to go through themI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards.
