Manchester Dogs Home Fire

I couldn't agree more .Everyone is directing their digust at the lad responsible for the actual fire, what about directing digust at 200 dogs being in there looking for homes in the first place.
Also, 60 dogs have died a horrific death. But far more than that die unnecessarily EVERY day, being put down by the RSPCA, and shelters that don't operate a no kill policy. Hopefully a more peaceful death, but still their last days spent living in fear in kennels.
I hope enough more is raised to rebuild the Dogs Home and fund a huge dog neutering campaign in the area.
Yes, some people will have had to leave their dogs at a dogs home for unavoidable reasons such as job loss or illness, but if there were less dogs then these dogs could have been homed immediately, not sat in kennels for weeks.
People need to get it into their heads that dogs die every single day because there are just too many of them.
I give money to a charity called safe and sound pound dogs who are currently 6 weeks from closure. They rescue dogs who are in pounds and try and find them rescues. Im actually a cat lover, all my animals have been cats but Ive tried to give what I can to safe and sound and also to Hillside who also do good work.
I'll also give to manchester. I do give money to kids charities (going back to an earlier post), dont think it helps to compare disaster to disaster.
Not referring to the post Im quoting, obviously, but it annoys me when people say, why dont you do this, or this, like how can you give money abroad not at home. I do both.
Those poor dogs, thats what matters, not comparing whether a kids charity would have got more or less.0 -
There will be, I cant see a big place like that with staff not having decent buildings and contents insurance.0

Erm, purpleshoes, did you mean to quote me and not somebody else.
I do agree with purpleshoes that I'm fed up with people presuming if you give to animals then you won't to children. 4 of my monthly direct debits are human charities, and 1 is Greenpeace.DONT BREED OR BUY WHILE HOMELESS ANIMALS DIE. GET YOUR ANIMALS NEUTERED TO SAVE LIVES.0 -
Great to see all the donations, but is there not insurance in place that will pay for the cost of rebuilding??
There is insurance, but they don't know how much or when they will get it, and their operating costs are £100K per month.
I'm sure the money will get put to good use either way.0 -

I was responding to your post when you said about too many dogs being in pounds in the first place and agreeing, but just also wanted to say that I didnt agree with comparing one disaster to another, I did say as well that I wasnt quoting you when I was saying that (havent used the multi quote feature, because Ive never tried to, thats why I didnt quote the earlier post I was responding to as well).0 -
Thanks, I got a bit confused. (doesn't take much to confuse me)DONT BREED OR BUY WHILE HOMELESS ANIMALS DIE. GET YOUR ANIMALS NEUTERED TO SAVE LIVES.0

While insurance may cover the building there are still day to day expenses such as vet fees for the dogs who have survived but need treatment- last read 19 seriously ill- , food, staff salaries to be paid.
I, for one, do not grudge them any of the donations which are now over 1 million pounds.0 -
This is not comparable to anything else that happens, everyone thinks different but my dogs are like flesh and blood to me, when they are ill I worry and fret like I do over my children. My son pointed out mum it's 9/11 anniversary and your upset over dogs? My response as was that it isn't comparable, those dogs locked up yelping afraid horrified me. Some people don't get it, dogs have emotions, look into their eyes, they crave love and are just amazing loyal loving companions, just amazing, they really are, a dog lover will get me others will shake their heads, but my dogs lick my tears away and love me unconditionally like I do them.
Sorry for ramble, lying in bed with my two fur boys asleep at my feet thinking how lucky I am that they wanted me as their friend for life.#JusticeForGrenfell0 -

September 11 2001 was one of the worst days of my lifeAs others have said, it is wrong to compare and contrast different scenarios where the innocent (no matter what species/race/creed) lose their lives.
Both the 9/11 attacks and the dogs' home fire were perpetrated by sick individuals with skewed values and no moral compass. That's what I see as the similarity.
The snuffing-out of any innocent life diminishes us all. We all live on the same planet; it's beyond me why people do such wicked things.0
