Don't encourage name and shame, the kid done it can you imagine what hell his family will get? yes no where near what the dogs suffered, but it can't be an eye for an eye.

I read it that roddydog was saying that the other poster needed to put allegedly into their comments, rather than encouraging any naming.

Dreadful story, so pleased to see that the donations are whizzing up and that other homes have stepped in to help.

Over £400,000 donated now, which is great. Just such a shame that this had to happen first.

Very sad story. Nice to see how people responded from the 2 guys who risked injury or even death to go into the burning kennels and rescue some of the dogs and the locals who turned up with food, blankets etc.

At present the total on the just giving page is £388,000 and apparently Jewsons have said they will donate all the materials needed to rebuild free of charge.

No words for the scum that thinks it is ok or clever to start a fire in a dog rescue centre. No doubt we will hear how he had such an awful childhood etc etc and will be given a slap on the wrist by the courts and free to do this again or even worse

  • I would have that kid up for murder, never mind arson.

But I feel very passionately about animal cruelty.

Ricky Gervais has shared this so undoubtedly that will help raise funds.

So sad, I know one of the workers and she is devastated :(
  • Such a terrible thing to have happened. We have been to Mcr dogs home a few times.
My heart goes out to those poor animals.
We have donated and will see if we can help in other ways too
R.I.P to all the ones who didn't make it
  • I got my first dog from Manchester Dogs Home and used to live in Blackley not far from there.

They do an amazing job and it is so sad that at least 60 hairy babies who probably have not had the best start anyway have now passed on :(

I have donated what I can, I am amazed and it warms my heart the goodness that comes out in people at tragic times like this though. So much money raised, offers of help, donations of food and bedding. Big pats on the back to the two men who rescued 20 dogs at a great risk to themselves and the firemen, policemen, RSPCA inspectors and the home staff for all of the work done!

We truly are a nation of animal lovers, bar a few evil wastes of skin and oxygen.

I like Dogs. I got my last dog from the Rspca home at Halewood in Liverpool and i'm thinking of getting another. I feel very sorry for what has happend in Manchester. So this isn't an anti-animals post, but i wonder if £500k would be promised to a childrens disaster so soon.
Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

If the situation had been the same, but it was a care home or school with children and not dogs, then yes I think it would.
