Conkai parking fine - parked without ticket displayed

Hi All,
Last week I parked in my designated residential parking lot for a week and managed to not only get one but two parking tickets... I was parked in my space but didn't display my pass.
The company who issued the tickets were Conkai Security Ltd. Been digging around a little and found that they used to be a clamping service and have now turned to ticketing instead. They are also AOS members so I think I might be in some trouble.
My landlord told me to appeal the tickets and then wait out the threats as he argued they will not take me to court. And if they do and I lose, at least argue to not have to pay for both tickets (I found both of them at the same time).
I am a bit wary about the whole 'pay within 14 days and you get a discount' deal as well. If I now WILL have to pay the fines I obviously want to pay the reduced amount not faff around with something that won't work.
I have been reading about POPLAs and POFAs all afternoon and to be honest I feel like I am in over my head a little. Is there any chance one of you kind souls could dumb it down for me?
Is it worth me emailing my appeal to them ("parking ticket slipped down")? Or what should I do? What will they do? What are the risks?
I appreciate any and all help!!
Thank you

No - read the Newbies thread. That's already clear on how to appeal & I've already written it for you. I can't spend time explaining it all again when I have already written a FAQs thread that most people do this with:Is it worth me emailing my appeal to them ("parking ticket slipped down")?

I can't see why people don't get it. Yep there are a few things to read but most of the Newbies thread post #1 is the appeal template. The other stuff tells you important details like why NOT TO APPEAL YET.
And if you searched 'Conkai' on the forum as a keyword you would learn they moved to the IPC on 1st Sept:
http://www.theipc.info/#!aos-members/cv75
So if your ticket was after that, then you will have to win at IAS (not POPLA) so read up in the Newbies thread and on other posts about IAS appeals. Your bad luck they are more difficult than POPLA appeals but good luck for you that we've learnt how to win them sometimes recently.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi coupon-mad,
I tried but it gets confusing....
For example, is Conkai included as past of the "unless it is NCP or Meteor or WING or a small PPC like 'JAS' or 'JD Parking Consultants' or 'UCS parking Ltd' or 'P4Parking aka Nighthawk'" ?
Thanks0 -
Furthermore,
1. How can I appeal that I was not the driver if no one else is a registered driver of the car?
2. How come I have to wait for the notice through the post? This will ultimately exceed the 14days grace period and all of a sudden I am up to 200GBP in fines...eeeek!
I've read it, but I am just confused!!0 -

Nope they are not. They've just moved to the IPC so you MUST wait for a late and almost certainly non-compliant Notice to Keeper which will likely be the document which wins your case if you word it well and show it to the IAS as evidence (annotated and criticised in the way described in all the recent winning IAS appeal threads).
Errrrrm... where do I say you appeal saying you 'were not' the driver? That's information you do not give either way. There's no such thing as a 'registered driver' so you mean 'insured'! How do you think a poxy private firm knows who was driving or is insured to drive your car? And...I could drive your car with your permission as I have fully comp insurance myself, as do tens of thousands of other people in this Country! You think the PPC knows who was driving - no, they don't. Keep it that way.Furthermore,
1. How can I appeal that I was not the driver if no one else is a registered driver of the car?
LOL, LOL, and more LOL!2. How come I have to wait for the notice through the post? This will ultimately exceed the 14days grace period and all of a sudden I am up to 200GBP in fines...eeeek!
Where do you get £200 from, when in fact the POFA 2012 restricts the total to the amount of the non-discounted PCN sum...but ONLY for a registered keeper? The POFA imposes a ceiling on the amount a keeper can be held liable for so why the heck would you want to throw that away and appeal as driver?! It's a no-brainer to wait. And I have already explained above, why you wait. That's the late/badly written crappy piece of paper that you can use to win this appeal.
Where did you read it's a fine? This isn't a fine!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

And yet Conkai is still listed as a BPA approved operator and still boasts BPA membership on its website. It'll be interesting to see what IAS they offer (triggering an immediate complaint to the other one!)Je suis Charlie.0

We noticed that about the BPA still showing them on their list, on the thread Stroma started I think, telling everyone they'd moved to the IPC. But this will defo be an IAS appeal IMHO, hence waiting for the NTK letter and then spotting the errors in it.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

What does your AST say? If it mentions "quiet enjoyment" get on to your landlord and state that PPC harassment is a breach, and ask him to get on to the Managing Agents and get them to cancel it.You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

Get some photos of the signs NOW as they may still be BPA signs worded in a beatable way.
Post the pictures via tinypics here.0 -
Yes still listed as under the bpa, so signs are needed for this, please upload any you have. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Their website still suggests BPA membership. It also has VCS references written all over it.

Transition can't be an excuse; they need all their ducks totally in a row if they are using the law to try to pursue this.
@ OP - suggest you do some seren dumps of their web pages, for posterity. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
