I ordered a tablet PC from Argos and it was delivered to my work address, signed for by the office staff and left in a public area, its gone missing, what are my rights to a refund or replacement ?
Argos have said tough luck report the police, I have said its not been stolen from me, and I haven't signed for it, so its not my problem.

Its your (offices) problem.
You asked for it to be delivered to your works address, so clearly consented to office staff signing for it.
Why should Argos pay for it? Report it as stolen to the police.
Otherwise its an awesome scam. Get it sent to your office. Allow colleague to 'steal' it. Claim compensation from Argos/courier.0 -

Did you let office staff know that it was going to be delivered and ask them to put it somewhere safe when it was delivered.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Argos have delivered the goods to the address you specified. The fact that you didn't sign for it is not relevant as someone else at the address did. Speak to your employer and see whether you can claim for the loss from their insurance, or find out if it would be covered under your own contents insurance, though the latter might be unlikely as it was left in a public area.0 -
I was not aware that they would deliver an expensive item without my signiture, and I certainly would not have allowed it, I was only 200 metres away, it wasn't hard work to find me.
Its not a scam, I paid them to deliver it to ME, at that address. If they had I would have signed for it, and be a happy bunny.0 -

If they had delivered it to your home they would have accepted a signature from anyone who answered the door, whether it was you, your spouse, your cleaner. They simply did the same at your workplace.0 -

No you didn't. You paid them to deliver to that address. One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -
I don't think that there are any courier or delivery services that will deliver to a specific person rather than to a specific address.
YOu asked Argos to deliver to your workplace and once the tablet had been delivered and signed for, they had fulfilled their delivery obligations.
Anything that happened to the tablet after this time is between you and the other staff at your place of work.0 -
If its a work address the item will be left at reception you cant honestly expect them to ask if this person can come to accept the parcel as anyone could potentially say they are that person. As said it was delivered to where you specified and can be proved by the carriers so its not argos fault its now missing. If you have items delivered to a work address its your responsibility to make sure its safe to do so.0

Then take it up with the colleague who signed for it. I take it you did tell them you were expecting a delivery and to come find you when it arrived, yes?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
