And then Currys were doing a "JUDGED" Pinterest comp based on creativity. I spent ages on photoshop creating pictures for my board, made it all Purple to match their own pictures. They announce 7 Winners today and their boards are terrible. One guy only put about 5 random pictures on it, and this was supposed to be judged on creativity....... .

this is a reason why i never bother with pinterest

or judged ones. Even the sob stories are generic nowadays

winning is definitely getting harder and its not through lack of trying, just that comping is much more popular now, i used to average about 1 win each month, these are my wins since october last year:

    october - february nothing
feb - 4 mugs from spin to win dorset cereal
    april - chicago town dominoes
    june - aldi bb cream

i can look youthful, drink a brew and play dominoes with my wins!

so as you can see not much, but well there is always chance in the future :)

keep plodding on everyone, you've got to be in it to win it :)
Compers challenge 2024 wins!!!!.... Oct £60... £10 free spins, £50 palm, m&m pouch

Yea I suppose I was being naive thinking they might actually bother to look at what people do. No courtesy from them what so ever to end the competition early as well. I know another comper on here who had spent a lot of time doing their board today and was going to enter it tonight and yet they decided to just end it when they felt like it and announce the winners early.

I get easily annoyed by these things because it happens all too often. These companies are gaining a lot of publicity from their competitions it's not purely from the goodness of their heart. They should respect their rules the same way we do.

:O cant believe your original post was removed! ohdear! it was true, too many people want a quick & easy way in and are willing to break rules to get it.

people entering stuff they would never use/dont have anyone in mind to use, just entering for the sake that they may win and if they do they can sell it on and make some money.. well what about people who really could do with the items? or who have entered FAIRLY?

well arnt you a bundle of joy?

im not having a go at anyone who wins and circumstances force them to sell, or people who enter for say clothes/shoes and the company sends a random size etc, or where there is agenuine reason the item is no good for the person, just people who enter with the only reason being to sell the item. PERSONALLY i think its wrong.

I don't know about hard to win prizes but I'm pretty sick of entering JUDGED effort prizes by companies who clearly don't give a damn and break their own rules.

Feeling bitter right now as I done a Lands End competition where I actually put a lot of creative effort in and made a nice Denim Mood Board knowing it was judged. They announce the winners today and not to be offensive but how they were judged better than mine was beyond me. One person had put one Denim item on their whole board.

They also stated on terms that it ended at 11:59pm tonight so people could still enter today. Yet they announced all their winners 3 hours ago ruling out anyone who planned on entering tonight.

    These companies are pathetic.

I had that issue with another Pinterest comp. I spent ages on my board and though I say so myself it looked gorgeous. The winning entry was incredibly poor and didn't even follow all of the rules from their comp post! I've avoided the last few for that reason.
  • Snizza I am not sure how Pinterest works but your purple themed board was defiantly better, which makes me wonder if they judge it or just pick at random! Oh well just carry on and see I suppose, I dont like the voting comps on facebook, I have entered one about travel tips and I can only get a few people to vote for me and some get loads so probably no chance there then!

Thanks San. Not to sound big headed but with the Pinterest comps you can actually see most the time what you are up against and I did put the effort into this one and felt with 7 prizes being given away and the fact it was meant to be judged on creativity I had a decent chance lol.... But yes, it is quite obvious this time that the people running Currys competitions could not be a*sed to look at anyones boards and just picked out random names. And as I said, it's unfair for them to put down that people had until 11:59pm tonight to enter and then go and announce their winners this afternoon instead. What's the point in writing Terms and Conditions as a company if you have no plan on using them. Pretty sure I would be entitled to report them for that.

I know what you mean about the public voting ones. I never bother touching them when they allow the public to vote as I know there are people who as has been said pay for votes or have a ton of friends who vote for theirs regardless of how rubbish it is. I avoid them comps but I the odd time I will vote for others based on which entry I think is the best.
