Does anyone else think this is a tad suspicious. Buyer asks me to post to a different address, I refuse and refund, relist and he repurchases with delivery address added. Day after marking as dispatched and leaving tracking details I receive a message asking me for the tracking number. Parcel shows delivered end of August, yesterday I get a message 'parcel shows delivered but I've not got it, can you help make a claim against courier'.
Checked feedback and he is an Ebay seller and has actually sold three of the exact same item in July that he purchased from me, and sold them for a lot less than he paid for mine!
I've contacted courier and am waiting for them to get back to me, haven't yet contacted buyer. He didn't open a case just messaged me. Does anyone know where I stand and how I proceed from here, I guess I'm covered by tracking for non delivery. I certainly don't want to refund as I fully believe he planned in claiming from the beginning, hence the please send to a different address. Any advice appreciated.

The courier should have a copy of the signature that was used to sign for the parcel. He has the tracking number. There is no need to for to supply any further information to be complicit in his fraud. Let him deal with the courier himself.0

Block him as a buyer ASAP.0

Hi, I've already blocked him. As a buyer claiming non delivery does he have to make the claim himself with the courier? Can I refuse to make a claim on his behalf? Haven't heard back from the courier yet.0

nice, this is why my buying on ebay is dying off very quickly, too many sellers treat their buyers as guilty by default. tracking does not gaurantee its the buyer address that actually recived the item. Some couriers will not deal with buyers.
OP, from my experience with lots of couriers, depending on what "courier" you used, it ranges from outside possiblity to quite likly that the buyer does not have the item, even with a "signature" :-(
How you handle this depends on what type of ebay seller you are.
there are lots on ebay who would just say, "tough, I have tracking so you wont win any ebay claim". ignoring the fact that it is possible the buyer is telling the truth and lots of couriers wont let buyers claim, because its the seller that has the contract with the courier.
If the buyer wants you to put in a claim to the courier, I would do it simply because even the "good" couriers make mistakes. Let the courier investigate if the buyer is lying or not. if they find the item was missdelivered, I would then refund buyer & continue claim with courier.0

Sounds like they've used you to drop ship, until the buyer opens a case I wouldn't discuss it any further, if they open a case add the tracking. I would only get involved if the buyer supplies a valid crime reference number regarding the theft of their parcel. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0

My comment was based on reading the original post, and the suspicious initial query from the buyer and their selling history.
I'm quite happy to assist my buyers thank you very much, but will make my decision on exactly how much to help them based on their behaviour up to the point they make the query. Like the buyer last night who claimed they hadn't received the item and when I said I would send replacements next week if they didn't turn up who suddenly found the items stuffed in a drawer.0

asking to have something posted to a differant address is not "suspicious". I have got stuff I bought on many sites sent to diffrant address's, only an ebay seller would find that "suspicious" :rotfl:0

The COMPLETE post, including the comments about their previous purchases. But, carry on.0

As Dave says, buyer sells the same item, wants shipment to a different address and then claims non-receipt after the tracking shows delivered, all 3 together don't add up to the norm you are referring to.
Not only that but the buyer ask the OP to help make a claim, not help find the parcel which seems odd as well.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0
