All the cars in the world are not worth delaying that house payday for.

Well, this is what I was going to add...... I have a mortgage for around half the value of my property, it's about £400 a month. But if someone gave me a fancy expensive car (or I won one), the first thing i'd do is sell it and pay the whole lot into the mortgage, because £10'000 off the mortgage is worth probably £100 a month.

Having a mortgage is something none of us can avoid, but as you rightly point out, paying it off is worth more than any fancy motor parked on the drive.

Lol, I extrapolated from your information to get a value of £80 k for your house. That would buy a half share in a 'park home' here. I do realise you live in a more affordable area of the country. ;)

I'd extrapolate to around a £160K value. My old mortgage before I moved was £463 a month before overpayments for 90K at 90% LTV when taken out.

    Ah, I went.

£10k = £100 per month per his post. £400 pm = half the value of the house

    So value = £10k x4 x2= £80k

I thought 70-80k as he mentioned £10,000 would reduce the mortgage payments by £100 a month from £400. It all depends on how long is left on the mortgage and what rate he is getting.

Same here, but I included interest saving to bring it below £80k.

I just assumed the £100 a month was an unsubstantiated guess :)
