Thanks for the clarification, so it's only of you don't exchange details.

I've driven a Cab and you're paying so much in insurance you'll do almost anything to protect your NCB. If it's only £150 he should grab that with both hands.
Give him until later in the day and then tell the Police what happend.

he replied to my text at 8:15am this morning promptly, then stopped!!

And 42 minutes later you post that he has stopped replying to you. Seriously? 42 minutes?

Maybe he is checking out the cost. There's a good chance that taxi drivers will know some body repair shops.

I would wait until the afternoon then call him.

Yes 42 minutes. It's not as if I'm being unreasonable to want this sorted ASAP. !!!!!!.

As posted he wasn't being straight with you regarding your ncd.

Asking only £150 should have been a snatch your hand off reaction.

    He didn't.

But you are entitled to a proper repair and a replacement car too whilst yours is fixed.

So don't fall for the be patient advice.

The taxi man can keep his ncd by paying back the costs to his insurer. But no reason you should do all the running round getting quotes etc when you are totally innocent.

No fault claims quite often result in increased premiums though.

They may. But struck when parked doesn't usually cause much of an increase if any.

But the taxi driver lied to the op regarding losing no claim discount were insurance involved.

And doesn't look too keen to wrap this up at a ridiculous low cost to him!

Agreed, but if I was OP I would not be too hurried to put in a claim, could end up costing more than the repair.

If its bothering/worrying you I would give him a deadline of a couple oh hours and say if you've not heard back you will have to go through your insurance.

That's not an expensive repair quote so can't see why he would have issue with that if he intended to settle with you directly.

As others have said, I'm not sure how much interest the Police will have in this from my experience.
    I think that's sensible advice.

Whilst you are happy to accommodate his honesty, you really must make sure that you don't lose out.
