    The bloke appears to have done the decent thing by admitting to it even though he didn't have to, so I'd be inclined to give him some leeway.

    You don't get 24 hours to report a RTA to police. You are supposed to do so ASAP, and may have to explain the delay if its hours after the incident.

    Thought you only had to report to police if there are injuries.

    Insurance company won't be bothered if you report it later than today to them.

    The point being made in the post is if you have to report to the police you don't get 24 hours to do so.

    Ar you saying that any minor car park scrape or parking nudge has to be reported to the police?

    If its bothering/worrying you I would give him a deadline of a couple oh hours and say if you've not heard back you will have to go through your insurance.

    That's not an expensive repair quote so can't see why he would have issue with that if he intended to settle with you directly.

    As others have said, I'm not sure how much interest the Police will have in this from my experience.

    Depends on the circs. If you don't exchange details at the scene and you have done damage to another's property then you commit an offence by not reporting asap.
