This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all,

Up early as off to work again today, its going to be a funny day today we have a load of bikers coming in for bacon/ sausage baps at 12, then a church group coming in at 1 for a roast dinner :rotfl:

OH in charge of home duties again it will be something with chicken today maybe a roast or mash and veg, I will also strip the bed and get that on to wash before I go.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

Just popping on quickly to say Hi, I am up early this morning due to having a takeaway last night and so I woke up with an enormous thirst due to all the salt I would imagine. So not worth it, financially or health-wise but I was weak and gave into temptation :o.

It's very sunny here this morning, I should be going to church but I'm going to play truant and just enjoy the last day of the Summer Holidays with my family. My eldest DD and grandkids are coming here for lunch so that will be lovely. We are having roast chicken and all the bits that go with it. My hubby always cooks on the weekend for me to have a break from it and so the dinner is doubly delicious :rotfl:.

I need to hop in the shower and get dressed but I'll have a cuppa first whilst DD14 uses the bathroom. Hope everyone manages to have a peaceful Sunday. Take care xx

Our visitors didn't leave until after midnight so hubby's still in be, I've taken him a cuppa, I shall aim for a nap later on today.
Hubby's on earlies next week, so we'll be up at 5 & at work around 6ish.

I now think I've met the two weirdest people food wise, what with one who only eats potato & the other only only eats mushrooms! I'm glad we opted for the takeaway option I certainly couldn't cope with catering for their tastes.

I'm not sure I'm going to achieve much today, I may not cook as there is loads of takeaway left, it will depends of what hubby wants to eat. If he want's a roast dinner I'll do it with pork chops.

Most of the mess is cleared up from yesterday, apart from a huge pile of empty drink cans that hubby can crush when he gets up. I do need to hang some washing on the line I stripped & remade the beds yesterday, I did get two loads dry yesterday so just the one load left.

    Time for another cuppa.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Hugs Hester

Morning everyone! There are folds of pink clouds everywhere and I'm hoping that it doesn't mean rain.

Drove up to Dalmally yesterday to see the country show which I eally enjoyed. Took the 'slow' route along the banks of Loch Awe on the way there and then the 'faster' route on the way back. Both were rather slower than I wanted.

Last night I watched some kind of raptor chase, catch, lose and then catch again a large crow. And there were a mass of other crows in the sky making a lot of racket. Lost track of them eventually as the chase continued though I suspect that the raptor won out.

Noodles and beef strips for lunch today. My favourite.

Hope all are well, getting better or coping.

    Happy Sunday folks.

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, dull and very overcast here.

DH and myself up and enjoying a first peaceful cuppa of the day.

Dinner last night was delicious, bro and sis had organised the food between them, they had made a lovely pasta dish each, some salad, HM coleslaw and some tear and share bread, niece made a Toblerone cheesecake which was delicious and there was apple pie, and then birthday cake for mum, all HM. Funnily enough whilst eating dessert we were talking about shop bought desserts and how much they cost, SIL was saying she’d seen a nice dessert and was horrified because it was priced at £6 – way over priced for the size and type of dessert she thought. Both my sis and bro all have good well paid jobs and they cook from scratch and are quite thrifty – seems that more of the population are finding the OS way the best! We had a lovely evening and mum had a good birthday.

Today we will be having a cooked lunch, not quite a roast but it will be haggis, roast potatoes, carrots, broccolli, green beans, peas, Yorkshires and gravy. There’s ice cream for those that have room. We won’t be doing much else, so a chilled day.

    Have a peaceful Sunday x

    Take care x

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning :hello:

Most of the girls got on well yesterday, but Millie was quite nasty. The newbies went back to their shed instead of the hen house, I decided to leave them there but tonight they're definitely moving in properly with the others.

I feel worn out today, not sure why. I'll just potter about this morning, putting washing out etc. then gather up all my notebooks and diary and put everything into some sort of order. I need to make a logo, I've stared at lots of pictures and played with lots of wordart but can't quite get it right. Hopefully inspiration will strike soon. I want things sorted before the end of the month so I can forget about it while we're on holiday, then when I get back I can concentrate on selling things and making some actual money, lol

    Morning all :)
It was quite cold here last night but I was having one of those duvet on/duvet off nights. Both DS's were out all night but DS2 reappeared at 8am which was most unexpected!
Want to have a sit down and writing day today. I spent 3 years studying herbal medicine before losing my oompf on the subject. Today I want to try picking up where I left off.
Also need to do a food shop, and as I have a £20 voucher for mr w I will go there :)
Have a good day all, TRU I hope chooks get on tonight, hugs to all in need xx

What a glorious morning! Washing to hang out, DW to go on and then painting DDs room. Managed 1 coat of watered down emulsion yesterday on the dry plaster, can do the rest today.

Spag bol was quite tasty last night, we have a reduced chicken piri piri for tea from L!dl. Did my shopping there yesterday as I was nearby, didn't need very much, just fresh veg and fruit.

Hope you all have a super sunday and the sun shines. Take care. XX

    Morning All,
Day hasn't started well, broke one of my Portmeirion mugs this moorning. Put it on my tairlift, and a bag of rubbish that was also on there slipped. Mug hit the stairlift rail and smashed to pieces:mad: Have to go round to TK Maxx to see if they have any more.

DD coming this morning with DGCH. She did a night shift last night, and her DH is working today, so I said I'll have the children while she gets some sleep.:T

Still aching today, walked too far on Friday.:o

Chicken for dinner, and rhubarb crumble.:T

    Have a good day all.

  • Good morning,

A beautiful morning here, so WM has just completed one load and another just popped in. A bit of a breeze so washing should dry quickly.

Lasagna and salad for lunch today, I thought we would have a change from the usual roast, Himself will have profiterolles as a treat, I will have the usual compot and yoghurt.

Hoping to do a bit more gardning today after coming back fom seeing DD, Himself will be watching the Grand Prix and hopefully I might catch a bit of it.

Have a good Sunday everyone, and take things steady.

  • It's ages since I posted on here.

Having a bit of a fibro flare up, made worse by the fact that we have had to move twice in 6 months. Long story will not bore you with it.

We are settling into a bright new house. Lots of work on the garden. Creating sq ft garden, off to the garden centre this morning for some compost and farmyard manure.

Sunny morning so laundry about to go out on the whirly.
