Wooden Sash Double Glazing Quote

  • 10 front-face, first-floor Windows in the Woodlands Conservation area.
Casements in good condition, some sills rotted, looking for double glazing.

One quote retained the cases and came in just over £1000 per window.
Two others would replace the full window and varied at over £1,600 and under £900 per window.

I liked the sound of the first. He talked more about the care and long-term life as well as important aspects like repointing and the final paint being important. I intend to get one more quote though and post in the Scotland Forum: "Glasgow companies to replace/renovate windows - Recommendations Please"

Note that I also phone the council and there was no budge on the wood. However, currently 50% of my block appear to have non-wooden upgrades and there are exceptions based on 'overall look' of your area so I will investigate that further.

    Hi,
Have you managed to sort your windows?
I'm going to revisit things shortly. I've decided to replace my bedroom windows first - full wood double glazing. Over this winter I've realised how draughty they are - especially as my boiler has gone kaput! They are probably in the best shape of all my windows but hey, the bedroom is the cheaper option to start with - fewer windows.
Tough times never last longer than tough people.
