which is what I do and they do use it. I cant guarantee that they dont go anywhere else as well. They are creatures of habit and will usually use the same spot but if they are in a depute over territory they'll use poo as a marker."You are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts" - Arthur Schlesinger

Holly twigs big enough to have plenty of prickly leaves works well. Just lay them over the area the cat uses, whether its lawn or border, to completely cover it.
As someone said, cats like to use the same fairly confined place0 -

The neighbour's cat keeps digging into my lawn, (text removed by MSE forum Team) on my newly planted plants and even doing on top of the exposed weed membrane. I've spoken to the neighbour and her partner and frankly they don't care. The most sympathetic response I've had was "but it's a cat we can't keep her inside all the time". I'm sick off searching for cat (text removed by MSE Forum Team) from my front garden on a daily basis and clearing before I let my kids out. They don't have a cat flap and certainly the cat isn't litter trained. The cat's outside most of the day and even sometimes throughout the night.
I will ask them to remove the cat deposits from my garden from now on and if they don't....
I've tried orange peel, coffee etc but no luck. It's not my duty to clear other people's pets poop.
What are my options next, how could I tackle it. Can I scoop the deposits and place it on my neighbours front door without being accused of trespassing?
I had the same problem .I got some petrol and left it in a bowl in the garden .Next thing I seen the cat running round and round in circles then it started to splutter and fell over .
it ran out of petrol :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:"Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -

So does mine, I told her off for not going outdoors :rotfl:First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -
I think you can buy automatic sprinklers to help deter cats or get a big dog.0

I thought you were going to say it turned into a dog. Well, it stepped on a cigarette butt and went woof....0 -
My neighbour threw about 30 cat turds over my fence the other day. When I asked him, he claims my cat litters in his garden (but when I asked if he had any evidence, he waved his phone at me but didn't actually show me anything). I have two cats, one is old and never leaves the garden, the other is fat, lazy and sleeps 23 hours a day. They both use the litter tray inside, so I can't figure out how I've now got all these turds in my garden!
I've asked my neighbour time and time again, not to throw cat sh*t over, I'm more than happy to go and clean up (even though it's most likely not my cat doing it's bizzo next door, theres a high population of cats in my area). The more reasonable response would be to knock on our door, but he'd rather spend an hour flinging sh*t over the fence. Last night he threatened to kill my cat the next time he saw him.
Even if you hate cats, how could anyone hurt an animal? Cats can be utter !!!!s, but people talking of stabbing them with shears and shooting them, kicking them etc really makes me lose faith in humanity. Sorry for the rant, its all a bit of a raw nerve today!0 -

Wow his garden is busy What does he think you feed your cat to produce that much? It sounds like he was upset at the time which is a little understandable with that much in his garden. Try and catch him at a time when he's a bit calmer and more likely to be reasonable to discuss it and make you offer of cleaning up again."You are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts" - Arthur Schlesinger

Mel 101.
Having watched my missus retching whilst removing the cat crap from our garden AGAIN this weekend (she's the one with the stronger stomach for such things - otherwise it would have been my job) I can certainly understand how people reach the point of enough is enough.
And decide to do something about it.
In our case it has been a wire strung round the top of the garden fence which seems to have limited the problem (not sure yet as we put some fertilizer on the garden and they might just be reacting to that). Next step will be one of those automatic squirty things. After that I don't know, but they ARE going to stop crapping in our garden. I'm certainly not intending to put the antifreeze out - but I am getting to the point where I understand why people do.
Your neighbour is already well beyond that breaking point. The crapping is obviously a regular occurrence, as you've spoken to them multiple times about the throwing it "back". They have had enough. Offers to clean up now and then don't cut much ice when you've just discovered a cat nest by sticking your fingers through it when weeding. Are you happy to go round daily and check their garden thoroughly ?
I suspect that they have identified which cats are the main culprits - it doesn't take much watching. In our case there are four cats that regularly access the garden, though there are more in the area. The black one almost always passes straight through. The tabby is a less frequent visitor. The two cats next door make very regular appearances. Guess where my money is regarding our chief culprits.
So, what have you done to deter your cats heading over the fence ? Wired the top - made it hard for them to bother ? Made sure there is a space in your garden for them to go - soft dry earth cleaned out after every crap ? Anything ? I'd certainly be thinking of doing something positive in your shoes - if your neighbour has got to the flinging the crap back state of mind I fear for your cats.
Ref last poster and "Wow his garden is busy What does he think you feed your cat to produce that much?" In our case, about a weeks worth plus a patch they were using that we didn't notice (behind some bamboo) got to a similar quantity.0
