How to store cheese

I usually keep it in the wrapper, wrapped in a plastic bag once opened, and keep it in the door of the fridge. Lately though, I've noticed it seems to be going mouldy before we finish it, and today I've had to throw half a block out as it smelt really musty.
I have seen the thing that Lakeland do but it was £14!!! which I can't justify at the minute...is there anything else I could use?
Thanks!
~VBeen comping since January '08. Wins so far....NOTHING!:rotfl:*UPDATE* June - won a Bratz doll for my little girl0 -
I heard that if you wrap cheese in foil and keep it in the bottom of your fridge it lasts longer.....0

Tesco have been very generous with money off coupons in my area lately and I've just received a coupon through the door for 75% of a kg of cheddar.
Terribly nice of them (especially as I just ran out) but I live alone, and wow, that's a lot of cheese. I'm tempted to cut it in half and give half to my mum, but usually it goes bad FAST once out of the packet. Does anyone have any good ways to stop it going hard or mouldy? Can you freeze it?0 -
Yes, it can be frozen. It may be a good idea to grate it first or, cut it into useable chunks before freezing.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0

Hi there,
yes cheese can be frozen, in fact most cheese can be frozen.
Cut it up into manageable pieces, wrap well and freeze.'Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle'0 -

it will freeze but its wise to make sure its grated first.
this is best done in batches each frozen in individual freezer bags. just as much as you will need per bag. If you freeze a whole block of grated cheese its impossible to defrost without melting the lot.
just grate in batches that you would normally use.Keep trying.........................what else is there to do?
