The New Majestic Hotel in Singapore was amazingly good....we went for the Garden Room, there is also an Aqua Room. Have a look. The Hotel is well placed to easily get around Singapore and was a joy to stay in. x
I just shared that link with my friend, and we are sold on the hotel and the fact that its central. Thanks for that!0 -
Yes we are keen on a Resort in Thailand, a bit of island hoping - couple of days excursions and/or just swimming. We are the type of people that LIVE for beach holidays a bit of sight seeing and we are done.
Our idea of a holiday is Sun, Sea, Sand and cocktails with loads of water sports and short excursions.
Take a look at Ao Nang or Ko Lanta in Thaland. They on the other side of the bay to Phuket so you can access the same islands as day trips. Both are much cheaper and more peaceful than Phuket without being too dead.0 -
You wont have any time at all in bangkok. so just go to a thailand from dubai resort
24 hours from leaving home before you get to a hotel. Even if you fly 1st/club you will be exhausted. The children will be grumpy. You will need a day to recover and sleep but based on above you leave the next day from bangkok. You might have a few evening hours in bangkok if you are all awake enough- in reality the children will be asleep.
I have done similar trips many times over the years.June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving
July challenge £50 a day. £ 1682.50/1550
October challenge £100 a day. £385/£31000 -
Thank you for the comment. We will be staying in one of the beach resorts with a private pool, I've now narrowed down the search to 4 hotels. Will probably be booking this weekend. Yep our requirements suit US as a family. 2016 we will do more of the East, but I don't think there is much to see in SIN.
Annie, thanks will check that out and let you know.
There is plenty to see in Singapore, but you won't see anything from the beach resorts there.travelover0 -

I wouldn't book any day trips until you get there. There are literally tour agents on every corner and it's much better to negotiate in person than pay their overpriced online rate. Most trips need only booking the day before so you can choose things based upon the weather and what you are in the mood for.
A good site for ideas for trips near Phuket is http://phuket.com/tours/ - my favourite is the islands of Phang Nga Bay.0 -
You need a whole day in Singapore to do the zoo-take swimmers for your children. The night tour isnt as good as the day but I would do both.
You really wont have any time in Bangkok. When you arrive you will be tired and filthy from travel. Will you have a bed on the planes? If not your sleep will be limited and all you will do when you arrive is go to bed for 15 hours. What time will your body clock think it is when you arrive? The flight to Dubai is short- so limited sleep time - you will be tired as you transfer in Dubai. the next flight is technically a day flight (but will feel like night to you). Not as easy to get sleep on a day flight as your fellow travellers wont be jet lagged and will want to be active. That is fine as long as you can sleep when you arrive.June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving

Dosh, I've just taken a look at the Top 10, AMAZING! Thank YOU so very much.
So BKK I don't know if we will be able to fit in all 3 places, so might just be Palace and a Temple.
I think then on arrival in Phuket, we will take 1 full day to do nothing, then plan excursions accordingly. Looking at the Top 10 from your link Dosh, they tick all our boxes, so we will probably manage 5 out of the 10 with 3 days of nothing (we did a 7 day cruise in the caribbean and had daily excursions, similar to these and all we did after dinner was crash out) so this is perfect for us. Lots of early nights for us!:T:rotfl:
I'm toying with the idea of spending an extra day in SIN, purely because I've stumbled across the Free daily walking tours and I think we would like to do two or 3 of those, i.e. 1x a day......all still work in progress.
Thank you once again for all your input.0 -
I really don't think you'll have the time or energy to do much in Bangkok. Immigration can take ages to get through if you're unlucky and depending on traffic it could take some time to get to your hotel. All you'll want to do will be to shower and sleep. You'll still be tired the next day and Bankok can be an exhausting city to try to cram in lots of things.
I did a similar flight last year, arrived on the evening and then got a flight to Cambodia the next afternoon. I flew direct to BKK and had no kids with me and all I could manage to do was cross the street to a shopping mall to have lunch before going to the airport for the next flight.
I would also spend longer than 2 nights in Singapore. It's not my favourite city but 1 full day doesn't give you much time at all. I did the night safari so that filled an evening but I imagine with kids you'd need a full day for just the zoo.0
