Haha, sorry doshwasTer - genuinely unintentional typo in my post above (if anyone noticed).
Ah yes, the Fullerton - this majestic and beautifully renovated conversion into a luxury hotel was originally the Central Post Office. What used to be THE place to go to mail a letter or make an overseas phone call is now THE place to go in the financial district (near Raffles Place, not Raffles Hotel) for a wonderful buffet lunch or elegant dining.Anyway, my preferred hotel in Singapore is the Fullerton (old colonial building, in bay area, nearby arts centre and other colonial buildings, short walk from Raffles). If you go, 6th floor Quay rooms have covered balconies which is great in all weathers.Evolution, not revolution0 -

Been in the Khao Lak area on the Thai Andaman coast for almost 2 weeks.
It's good, But not as good as it's made to be.
Like so many places, killing off the goose that laid the golden egg comes to mind.0 -

Agreed, the Fullerton is my preferred place to stay in Singapore. People do need to be aware that the Courtyard rooms (the most affordable category) are inward facing rooms and the "courtyard" is a covered atrium rather than an open courtyard, but it's still a great place to stay. Very handy for a stroll over to the bars and restaurants on Boat Quay, where I've spent many a pleasant evening.0 -

well I'm fine-ish, my 2 sidekicks however have now passed out, my 14 year old since 10am Thai time! I went out for a walk with my older one but then he wanted to come lie down after 2 hours exploring.......so now I'm sitting here, twiddling my thumbs!!! They are a bunch of lightweights, especially seeing they slept most of the way here!!!0

You're lucky they slept.
We flew out to Phuket on Thomson Dreamliner on 13 March.
it was more like Screamliner! One woman with 3 young ones. They took it in turns, so I don't think anyone got much skip.0 -

Ahh.. leave them there and go exploring yourself. What kind of trouble could a couple of kids get up to in a 5* hotel in Bangkok?!
