Parcel2Go and YODEL Terrible Service

Booked a collection and delivery through Parcels2Go with Yodel.

First thing was that the parcel wasn't collected on the day it should have been, rebooked for following day.

Now, I booked a service called Yodel 24 and it came under the column of Next Day Delivery on the Parcels2Go website. So the next day the parcel wasn't delivered, it hadn't even left the depot of the city it was collected from. So I get onto Parcel2Go live chat and they tell me that in the small print delivery times are 1-2 days.

Ok, I should have read the small print but the "24" implies next day delivery and the fact it was under the Next Day Delviery column is somewhat misleading, I told the customer service supervisor this who was incredibly condesending and rude.

So come to today when it should finally be delivered and guess what, not delivered and according to the tracking it still hasn't left the city it was collected from. So back to Parcels2Go live chat and again more than useless, tell me they have to emial yodel and I will have to wait 1-2 working days for a reply - so potentially no update till Wednesday, I told them that after the mess up with collection and terrible customer service the previous day I wasn't going to accept that and why don't they just phone Yodel - "We can't phone couriers" - Are you kidding me!! how ridiculous.

So I phone Yodel - who are incredibly difficult to get hold of a human, when I eventually did she basically told me she had to contact the depot and I had to wait - Lost faith by this point. She then asked me what was in the parcel, what kind of item it was etc (what business is it of hers!).

The item in question is quite expensive and the label to where its going would make it apparent what it is so I have a feeling the item has gone "Missing" aka Stolen. There is some sensitive and personal info in the parcel so I'm really not happy - Angry in fact, terrible, incompetent staff and service.

I will see how this plays out but will not stop until my item is found or i'm fully compensated if it has gone missing.

  • I hope you took out insurance to its true value, and not just the £29 standard cover!
  • If you haven't already, take a look at P2G's list of prohibited and no compensation items. Makes you wonder what one is allowed to send

I contacted P2G on Friday night and they said the item had been found and would be out for delivery Today (Monday).

Great....... er no........ item is missing again!!!!!!! And again I have to wait for their stupid system to get a reply from the courier.

No I didn't take out any cover, yes yes I should but then again why should I, by offering this cover are they basically admitting that they know some items will go "missing" while in their possesion, are they admitting that they will "Damage" items while in their possesion.

Doesn't matter how much you pay if they are offering a service like this they should NOT be losing or damaging items.

The item in question is a phone, which isn't under their exclusions. After the overly crap service and rude staff (if the item has been lost) I will be fighting this tooth and nail till I'm compensated.

You bought a cheap service through a reseller.
Yodel are difficult to contact, because call centres cost money to run.
People want cheap. Well with cheap you get corners cut
You can 'fight' all day long. However you chose a service with £29 cover

So Custardy, you are saying by it being cheap we should expect to lose the odd item, I don't think so. It doesn't matter if they charge 1p for the service they should still deliver the service promised.

I've had bad service before when using Yodel, the last one was also booked through P2G and also involved a missed collection. In my instance I was repeatedly assured the parcel was going to be collected on a particular day and I had to wait in (until 7pm I think). Of course the item was never collected and Yodel and P2G blamed each other.

I have never used Yodel again after that, I'm also quite cautious of using P2G and would never use them to book a collection again.

Good luck with your delivery, but please make sure you don't use these companies again. The saving you make in delivery charges is simply not worth the agro when it goes wrong!

Of course they will lose and damage some items. They are not perfect. Just like you will lose and damage items around your house.

They know that some items will be lost and that they will have to pay compensation. Consider that a part of the courier fee is a 'compensation levy'. If you send a cheap item, you should pay a cheap levy. If you send an expensive item it's a more expensive levy. They can't offer a flat-rate levy, as why should people sending cheap items end up paying more to compensate people who send more expensive items? The courier would go out of business putting a large levy on low-value items.

You chose to pay the minimum possible levy. You've not paid enough into the compensation pot for the value of item you sent, yet you think you're now entitled to claim against that same pot.

While their service may be poor, it was your decision to pay too little and risk it. Some you win, this one you've lost.

Why didnt you just go to a Post Office and send it Special Delivery?

    But it's not P2G's fault.
