This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Good morning everyone
Another day and another dash but at least it's Friday!
Another little ebay sale to post for our "freedom fund" - I still find it crazy that it's cheaper to post even small parcels by courier than Royal Mail.
I will try and pop back later for a catch up with news.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

Morning all
JackieO, a hard lesson learned for your DGS, my kids never take large amounts of cash to the festival.
Hugs to Hilly, MM, & anyone else in need, Molly, I hope you are ok.
I'm off to work in a sec, it's so busy I'm getting worn out already. I made blackberry jam & raspberry vodka last night but was too tired to do any more on my quilt.
WM & DW finished, I need to hang the washing on the line, empty the DW & then set off for work.
Have a good day everyone

Morning all,
Thought I would pop in early as I'm awake. DS3 has brought the lurgy back from the Leeds Festival. Absolutley full of a cold and sore throat.
Was planning a list of jobs today but think it will be a PJ Day on the couch with lots of hot drinks.
TTFTM I so feel for your DH. I worked in Further Education as a teacher and then later on as a manager of a department before I finished due to ill health. I can honestly say it was horrendous. All the back biting and politics made me ill. I hope your plan works and he gets out as soon as possible. Life's too short. We are hoping to do something very similar once our youngest has gone off to Uni.
In other news I pick up my new varifocals tomorrow. I've got a pair of ordinary ones and some prescription sunglasses. I'm really not looking forward to wearing glasses all the time but will have to get used to it.
Hubby has gone off to work early so I shall lie in bed with a cuppa for a bit longer.
Thank goodness it's Friday. Have a great day all xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Morning :hello:
The big shop is done. I was really tired by the time we got home so I put the chilled stuff away but left the rest. Forgot all about it til I walked into the kitchen and saw it this morning, I've had a grumble to myself about being too lazy to do it last nightWill sort it as soon as I've finished my coffee.
We're chopping the willow trees down next month. But I'm going to hack bits off one of them today – every time I walk down the garden I'm hit with hanging branchesEspecially horrible when it's been raining, they hang even lower and I get a cold shower, lol.
There's a bit of tidying to do in the garden then I'll spend the day indoors. I have a couple of drawers to sort out and plenty of crochet to keep me busy

It's Friday! Don't think it is to be such a nice day today, it was 23 degrees when I left work at 3 yesterday. I only have a few planters of herbs & toms and have been watering them all week. Looks like there's been a shower during the night. Managed to wash all the covers from the 2 big settees this week, they smell lovely and fresh.
DW emptied, not enough of a load to go in today, ironing up to date. Builders getting on with DDs room, it's nearly plastered, apparently we can paint on Sunday before the floor goes down, deep joy! Need to get the paint tomorrow morning, hope they still have the colours we picked.
TTFTM - Loving your Freedom Fund - not loving the way your OH is being treated.
hilstep - shame on the bus company. Hope you enjoyed your trip though, sounds like the staff were lovely.
Hugs to all, especially those not feeling too good.
Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone.
Grey and wet outside but I am cosy indoors. First weekend of new regime - a four day working week. :j. So I have a long weekend every two weeks. To celebrate I am still in bed under the duvet though waking as usual at 5am wasn't part of the plan.
I will spend a great deal of today setting up the new 'upstairs' laptop which is going to replace the old stream driven Vista desktop which takes approx 15 minutes to boot up and over two minutes to load/change pages or websites. We only really use it for streaming music downstairs and a bit if browsing. Will be so glad to get rid of the big box.
OH survived Dorset intact. Sorry to hear about the theft at Reading, youngster have to save so hard to enjoy these events. 😥
Today is freezer food as I am not stepping a single foot outside unless the weather improves. 🌞
Happy Friday everyone.0 -
Morning all
Ds1 birthday went well yesterday. I took him to get a haircut at a trendy barber and then shopping. I got him an Arsenal football shirt (we had picked up a new mobile phone the day before also). His mates came around later for a Chinese takeaway, some beers and xbox gaming before heading out to the pub and a nightclub. I heard him "creeping" in (like an elephant) at about 5am so I'm sure it was a good night!
I was up until nearly midnight helping dd with her art homework which I really enjoyed. I've not done any painting since leaving school, but I think I might do a bit now and again as it is really relaxing
Got to take ds2 to buy some new shoes and get his photo ID for his college. I'm hoping for this supposed heat wave as I want to get the towels washed - they take ages doors and it not cold enough to put radiators on.
Have a great day all, hug to those in need xx0 -
Day off for me today as DD has a day off so no school run.So a lesuirley shower and breakfast then I am going to make some fishcakes and put a lamb casserole in the slow cooker .I may then bake a fruit cake and some biscuits .basically a pottering around day No shopping to buy, so probably won't stick my nose out of the door
Very grey and overcast here at the moment .Right time for a cuppa or three:) I feel like a real lady of lesuire as I am normall haring out of the house at this time of the morning
:):)
Have a good day everyone

This week seems to have just flown by. Where does the time go? Everything has just seemed so busy here that last night well, I just felt so overwhelmed with it all
Trying to keep the house clean, everyone fed a healthy home made meal, dealing with Laddo who has a constant stream of energy and feeling drained of energy myself, how do people manage? I don't want us to return to how it was but I do want to be able to enjoy what I have achieved rather than be too exhausted to appreciate it and yes maybe a little appreciation off others would be nice.
I don't want to sound like some moaning minnie.I think I just need to work out a balance between everything. The good news is that I was able to reduce our shopping bill this week and I'm hopeful that I can do this every week
Bad news is that OH's pay drop works out to one whole day's wage a week  so the belt buckle needs an extra tighten.
This morning I need to make a loaf of bread and some milk buns. I need to get a wash on the go and there is a bit of ironing to complete. I'm pretty much ironing every other day but it works out better as I don't have such a huge pile to face and I know my mom appreciates it more when she comes to help out
It's chip shop night tonight so I don't haven't cook a main meal which will give me time to do some baking this afternoon. No idea what to bake yet so will have a browse to see what biscuits sound nice. I want to use up some blackberries and apples so maybe a pie? I will have a think
Hester the raspberry vodka sounds nice. How did you make it please?
tru there's many a time I've come back from shopping and just left it all on the table after putting chilled and frozen away
Hope you all have a good day2016 Grocery Challenge January: £296.20/£300 February: £262.05/£3000 -
Good morning everyone  (and to all our lurkers too)
Well, it's really really foggy here this morning, I can't even see to the end of my garden path. I'm actually up and dressed early this morning as I have a Tesco delivery coming soon and I won't inflict the sight of myself in my nightie on the poor delivery driver:D.
I had a really nice evening yesterday making cards and embellishments ready for Christmas. I've ordered myself a lovely owl die too as I love owls so much. I have quite a few dotted around the house and I get given them for birthdays too.
We are having pizza for tea so that's nice and easy and the house is still tidy from yesterday even though we were invaded by my grandchildren. They came, rifled through the snack drawer, dropped crumbs and left. It was like a couple of whirlwinds had arrived. I've really missed them whilst they have been in Spain. They are coming over again today as well.
I've actually heard from a social worker attached to the community mental health team. I had the crisis team visiting me a couple of months ago and after I was discharged I was supposed to be passed onto the CMTH but I had heard nothing until yesterday. She is coming to see me at home next Tuesday afternoon so I will be interested to hear what she has to offer. I think the plan is to get me out of the house  but we'll see. I was 'talking' to a lovely lady online yesterday about not leaving the house unless I absolutely have to. I am really worried about having to take my grandson to nursery and back once my daughter officially starts work. I know I am just going to have to suck it up but I am dreading it.
Oh well, my lovely DD11 has just made me a cup of tea and the washing machine is on it's final spin so I will love you and leave you. Hope everyone manages to have a great day whatever you are up to. Take care xx0
