Quidco Cashback Problems.

Along the many other people I took out a 3 Direct Talker 1000 deal through Quidco back in February. This deal promised to give a £100 cashback. It went through okay (I also used "Refer a Friend") and I duly received £70 back from Quidco. I queried this £30 shortfall several times and was told that it was down to 3 to honour their committment with me/Quidco. Until Quidco received this they could do nothing.

The reply from Quidco is as follows -

"Hi Paul, Your first 3 Mobile enquiry was first sent to the merchant on the 1st of March. We do continue to send outstanding enquiries monthly to the merchant; unfortunately there is little else that we can do. Technically, there is no obligation to pay out on enquiries that do not track and considering they have already secured a sale there is also little motivation. It varies wildly between merchants, some resolve enquiries very quickly and others never do. Hopefully we may still hear back from the merchant about your cashback. Kind regards, Stuart"

I emailed 3 about this today and I also mentioned that I had to chase my "Refer a Friend" cashback, in fact my "friend" still hasn't been paid! CS in India phoned me (very quickly) this afternoon but, unlike other dealings I have had with them, they were not very helpful. After giving me a really long explaination for a question I hadn't even asked, they refused to discuss the Quidco shortfall & said that I would have to sort this out directly with Quidco. They also told me that my friend would have to contact them directly regarding his R a F cashback. The phone call was most disappointing and frustrating.

Has anyone else who took out a similar contract managed to get their cashback from Quidco in full yet and is this seemingly bad practice the norm in these instances?

It sounds like I am VERY lucky compared to you experience Alan. How the hell did 3 manage to get away with that?

I got my £100 Quidco on my contract in March, the issue is really with Quidco, as ever its best to do a print screen when using Quidco and use it as proof if need be to Quidco. All Quidco do is "refer" you and what they received from three is what they "should" have passed on to you.

Three's RAF scheme is also a pain in the ****, had to call twice to get mine, it should have been automated and added without me asking but obviously wasn't the case, but the staff were more than helpful in adding it to my account eventually. Also had to tell my friend to call up and request their £30!

    131.24 (paid) + £0 (validated) = £131.24

    Hi z4kir,

Thanks for your reply, you are the first that I have heard of who received this cashback in full.

I have contacted Quidco several times on this one, but they always point out that they can only pay me what 3 send to them and it looks as though 3 have shortchanged lots of Quidco users who took out this talk plan. Quidco have also pointed out that they have no real obligation to pay out which I have taken to mean that it is all down to "if you're lucky".

Surely, if it's in writing on their website they should have to honour their promise.

Maybe it is something that Martin should look into, after all it was due to his recommendation that I started buying through Quidco!

Quidco are holier than though when it comes to chucking off its members but really don't worry at all about merchants who don't honour their pledges. Quidco seems to think that's perfectly acceptable.

That seems a bit harsh, I have had cashbacks from other merchants in full through Quidco in the past. It just seems to be 3 that are a major problem.

If you are correct I'm amazed that we haven't seen many more negative comments on this site. In fact, I'm rather suprised that more people haven't posted regarding this 3 offer. At the time I recall that many who took out the DT 1000 complained that they only received three quarters of their anticipated money.

Did all of those people eventally receive their balance??????

Harsh?? I'm not the only one to have lost hundreds of pounds from various merchants over the last 15 months. When you have too maybe you won't think it harsh - especially when Quidco does NOTHING to recoup it other than send a message once a month whilst certain dealers repeat the process over and over. YET they will chuck a member off the site without warning AND confiscate ALL the money owed to them - which again could be hundreds. Obviously you use Quidco on a very small scale!!

If you read back through all the Quidco blogs you will find PLENTY of people who have lost out. The really annoyed ones tend to get deleted. If you also go back over a long period you might see WHY I said they have a holier than though attitude! The merchants ONLY offer inducements for one reason and if they get the offers wrong the members can get punished.

This is the 2nd time that you've mentioned "Promise" could you provide a link to it as quidco have stiffed me for £50.
Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.

Sorry, maybe "promise" is the wrong word to use here. I have checked on the Quidco website and I can't see anything that mentions "promise".

However, when I go onto Quidco, or any other website, and I see in "black & white" that by taking out a mobile phone contract I get £100 cashback I fully expect to get it. It forms part of my financial planning and is a determining factor in my decision making. I may be naive but I did think I would get all of the money indicated on the site and I did think that Quidco would sort it. I guess that I'll have to allow for this sort of thing in future.
