    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

    Now light, sun shining.

DH up and gone to work early but not stupid early.

Dinner last night was fish, chips, beans and salad for the menfolk, I had salmon, jacket potato and salad. The piece of salmon was a large piece that was found in the freezer outside, DS2 brought it inside to put in the inside freezer but then left it on the worktop – it wasn’t completely defrosted but had started to defrost so I put it in the fridge to finish defrosting. I changed the menu plan accordingly, there’s still a good size portion now cooked in the fridge – that’s likely to be my dinner tonight most probably with jacket potato, and green beans. As it was DH’s birthday yesterday we had a chocolate birthday cake – I did have some, all eaten enjoyed. Tonight’s dinner will be something that I hope is going to be delivered with the on-line order that’s being delivered between 3-4pm – it was the last of the £1 slots. Lots of people say they save money when doing on-line shops, it’s the other way for me, I seem to spend a fortune! Hoping once DS2 goes back to school tomorrow I won’t be spending as much – my boys eat so much food!

Yesterday we went to MrM’s to get the cake for DH’s birthday and some wine, so had a little ride out in the car, doesn’t make me feel so isolated.

Spoke to old insurance company yesterday as the refund cheque arrived but the proof of NCD didn’t – so spoke to them and they emailed it to me and I’ve emailed it to the new company – so hoping that’s all sorted now and I don’t have any more chasing to do.

Made a payment to the cc yesterday and DS1 will be making more payments when I give him the cheque and paperwork etc either tomorrow or Saturday. I’m going to use this time I’m at home to try to address where all our money goes, it will be easier once DS2 goes back to school I’m hoping.

    Take care x

    Keep safe and well x

  • Good Morning everyone lovely bright sunny day here now the mist has cleared, it was beautiful walking the lurcha beside the river this morning as the mist gradually lifted and things became visible on the other side, it was high tide too so lovely light on the water.

He Who Knows has gone fishing today with a friend and I'm having a chutney making session as the apples are starting to drop from the big front tree and I've got quite a collection to sort out along with far too many courgettes all at once. I've had 4 lbs of courgettes in salt overnight so it will be a big batch but will be nice through the winter.

Docky is taking his extra tablets OK as long as I wrap them in enough grated cheese and now all I have to say is 'Cheese Gromit?' to have him sitting at my feet with his goofy ears up and a hopeful doggy smile on his face, so cute!!!

MOLLY I hope you're ticking along OK and building up your strength for facing your next operation, stay safe honey, we're thinking of you and HILLY what a mess up by the coach company, it's really time that organisations started to realise they are dealing with real people with real needs and not just customers to give them money, I'm so glad the staff at Buck House were able to help and were so very kind to you, hope it didn't spoil your day.

Hope all the poorlies are feeling better today and that all involved with schools who are going back to work after the summer break have a few good weeks before that bone tiredness starts to set in again, it's not an easy area to work in, Lyn xxx.

    Good morning everyone!

I'm going on a long train journey tomorrow to attend something bookish (I love books)... might be an expensive weekend, so I'm planning on being as OS thrifty as possible. I shall take my own train picnic - who doesn't love a train picnic!! If I make a few cheese scones or muffins, they can last as snacks for the next day too. If I don't eat them all. :A

I was thinking about whether to use the £1 off vouchers in yesterday's Metro for a copy of Glamour magazine to read on the way... depends what's free in it, otherwise that's still a pound after nothing.;) Metro is free after all... and it might be coals to Newcastle, but I can also take a book for the journey. I do have a Kindle, but I worry about losing it! :rotfl:

    Hi everyone,

TTFTM, hope it isn't too long before you achieve your aims. Hilstep, well done for getting a refund.

DD and BF are coming this weekend and I'd asked DS and GF to come for a meal on Saturday weeks ago - I texted to remind them and she replied that they were going to see her brother as he's going to College on Sunday. I don't mind at all and they are coming on Sunday instead but I just wish they would tell me so that I can make proper plans.

DD is taking me out for a meal - she has to review a few restaurants for her job. She is taking me to Fifteen, hope it's good. She's also off to France next week and Russia the following week so we're having to squeeze it in.

We had some disappointing news about mum's estate yesterday, but not unexpected, hopefully it won't take too much longer to wind up now.

I'm going to make a date and walnut loaf - I've not made one for ages and have some dates to use up.

    Have a good day.

    Morning all,

Horrid foggy day up here and it's been getting worse for the last couple of hours :( I've got an event after work, a treasure hunt, so I'm hoping it improves a bit or at least stays dry!

Really tired today too, was at the BF's last night, still at that stage where you can stay up all night talking then realise you've a couple of hours till the alarm goes off. Don't think there'll be anything OS going on today, hopefully there's food at tonights event so I don't need to worry about tea. Will be headed straight to bed when I get home!

Hope you're all well and enjoying the nice day where you have it. Hugs to those in need

  • Afternoon all :)

It has been a busy few days with the kids back at school. I'm feeling exhausted but it is nice to have peace and quiet in the house during the daytime :o

OH managed to get the rest of the broken fence burned last night and there are just 5 floorboards left to varnish so I'm going to look for the new bedroom furniture today :)

I managed to give the kitchen a good clean this morning and get the ironing out the way. I've got some chicken breasts for tea so going to have a look for some inspiration :)

Have a good day all :

    Morning all

Went for early swim and then off to £l@@d and The W@@ks for a few bits to take for Christmas presents when we go to visit family next month. Got some lovely books and loads of stickers, that are beloved by DGD. Had 90p on loyalty card, so even better.

Dinner is LO paprika chicken from last night, I don't mind two days dinner the same.

Clouding over here so bite of lunch and a bike ride to local shops to find a calendar with Kent photos for for SIL.

Hugs to those who need them. X

    Hi all,

Bestival weekend here, DD has gone off till Monday, no doubt will appear for a shower and hot meal at regular intervals :o

DS2 started 6th form on Monday, still hasn,t been given timetable  i don,t blame the staff, but the school has been through too many changes in too short a time, went from 3 tier to 2 tier on the Island a couple of years ago, this particular school was being built at the time, the builders went bust, all the Government shennanigans havn,t helped - now they have stated they are going over to an acadamy...... Worried that DS2 has chosen to go back to school 6th form may be based on where his mates go, rather than whats best for him - I always said I would support his choice, but I am concerned.

    Moan over :D

Off to take MIL shopping now. Chicken and chorizo rice spicey thing for dinner

Love and hugs to all x

I'm pleased to hear that Docky is taking his meds without any problem; it's amazing how loads of dogs love cheese!

TTFTM the Freedom Fund sounds good - Mr LW's savings account is labelled "Champagne Fund" and mine is "Wolfy's Dragon Fund".:D

Dumpling oh dear, "friend" turning up on the doorstep out of the blue isn't so good; if that was me, I'd pop a coat on before answering the door, and say "oh dear, really sorry but I was just on my way out"; or if you can't face that, how about "I really, really have to <insert nastiest, muckiest, yuckiest household task you can possibly think of> and I MUST get it done today without fail; you're welcome to help me with it, otherwise, sorry, but I can't spare the time".
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
