Where to buy carpet?

Best to check all stores, but Carpetright's market is low to middle end. They will not have the selection of 80/20 wool that you would find in a good independent.
That said, check them out along with the independents in your area.0 -

The independent retailer near me is a small shop , no way does he have more 80/20 than a large warehouse, another snob posting.
But the important phrase......check all stores0 -
I recently got lots of samples directly from the manufacturer. Ordered carpet online and got a local fitter to fit it. Saved alot.0

Steve's Carpets in Dartford.

Several of my neighbours have used him in the past and all have been very complementary about both the quality and the fitting service.
From Erith, he'd be easy to get to - come along University Way / Bob Dunn Way until the end, follow the signs to Cotton Lane (to the left of the Hilton) and follow that to the end. Turn left at the lights, carry on along that road to the next set of lights (Bull, Stone) and Steve's Carpets is on your left.PLEASE NOTE:

Interesting how you view this as a snob post when in all probability most customers will be better off buying from an independent than Carpetright. Look up different articles online and you will see that. By the time you factor in their underlay, gripper and the all important 'phantom' delivery charge, you'll be paying more than from a good traditional independent.
Out of interest how many 80/20's do Carpetright run or don't you know?0 -

More than the local independent , you MUST know how many he has!hen in all probability most customers will be better off buying from an independent than Carpetright.
If they are buying the same service, at the same price, I have no problems, I only respond when I see a post such occurred at # 20 -

I know Mayplace Carpets if that what you mean and I know which manufacturers they deal with. I also know who Carpetright deal with and the vast majority of their samples will be 100% synthetic which is where the bulk of the market is sold these days. Phil Harris will keep in his stores what sells and what he can get good margin on. At the moment that is not 80/20 wool based products. Might have been five years ago.
Whatever they have or don't have, the one thing we agree on is to check all the stores.0 -
I got our 80/20 carpet from Burts Carpets online, which I originally found after looking for remnants on eBay. Delivery was £10 for 40m2 and it was £12 per m2 for the carpet. Sourced underlay and grippers on eBay and arranged a fitter separately. Looks and feels really nice!
We also went to Carpetright who wanted £33 per m2!!0 -
We bought our stair carpet online and got a local fitter. We ordered samples direct from Vic
Carpets and Cormar.0
