YesI think it would be a good idea0

YesA lot of the new users of the forum don't end up discovering sub-forums until really late. I think they might miss out, if they are not well-alerted to the presence of the new sub-forum, if we have one for postals, etc.
(I often see members who've been here months say they didn't realise there was a Regulars Forum..).
In principle, I think it would be nice to tick and cross, as for the normal comps, so I am partly in favour of a new sub-forum. But on the basis of others (especially newbies) potentially missing out, I've voted 'no'.
I think newbies are much more likely to be missing them as they are now! I've been here over two years and still don't really venture into the postal thread as I don't really remember where it is and it seems to work so differently from the rest of the boards and I don't really get it. In comparison I worked out subforums such as the regulars pretty quickly as they were right there, and do e.g the dailies regularly. I think it would be much more visible as a sub forum, though obviously others may disagree.2018 wins: Aspinal of London jewellery box, Boudavida gym outfit, HP Pavilion laptop, The List party tickets, All Points East festival tickets, Kiehls moisturiser, By Terry cc serum, Nars Liquid Bronzer, Benefit highlighter, Nars illuminator, Fresh advanced lip trio set, Cetaphil sample set, signed copy of My Absolute Darling by Gabriel Tallent0 -
Yesok this maybe a stupid question
but how is this going to work out for those who post the comps ? I feel at ease where it is now but don't want to put a downer on it. just wonder how it will work for those who post, is it all going to be change while I am away and I can't find anything when I get back ?

NoOddies, I guess you'd just post them on the sub-forum, like you would when posting online entry comps on the Competitions Time forum....
Not sure how the changeover would work though, as presumably they'd need to be transferred from the postal thread into individual posts on a new board :eek:
I suspect there will be lots more talk about this before it happens, Oddies, so I wouldn't worry about it happening while you're away
I think it's really important for you, and others who post regularly on that thread, to get a say in what happens with a sub-forum. If the regulars on the postal thread don't feel comfortable posting each comp as a separate thread, I think that would be detrimental to the existence of postals on the forum at all.0 -

Thanks for sharing the opposite opinion, Velocity, I hadn't really thought about it from the other direction
I guess end-daters miss out too, because the postal thread is usually near the top of the board....0 -

Painkiller has taken over my ITV comps that are now post/text only, as im not comfortable posting in a single thread 1. you have to search for it and 2. i dont want to do it wrong (miss anything out etc) i just dont have time to faff around with a thread different to how i post at the moment, and as we have someone prepared to do it, it does make me a tad lazy as i dont need to do it
If it was on the main board, or a sub board where you post as if it was the main board i would be happier posting as i would assume it would be as i had been posting beforehand.
Mind you, just a thought - if the sub board doesnt go ahead, could we not do away with the thread and put them on the main board, with a 'text/postal' in the title as we do now with facebook, twitter and purchase comps? Im sure most regulars know im in favour with as many comps being listed on the main board individually as possible! (i do understand the need for this thread, or the magazines as they often require a purchase or extra work)0 -

It's not that it is uncomfortable as such just don't like change or should I say my brain doesn't like it ( I only have half a brain) ( true ) and my brain don't like change
but once I get used to it and the idea it's fine by me, just was a bit worried I would get back of hols to find it all changed :eek:

Jeez that's confused my brain just reading your post :rotfl:2016 Jan Wins: 9ct white Gold Diamond Necklace £530.00, Doro Easy phone. April: Hotel Chocolat Easter Egg. May: £1,000 spend @ laredoute. June: Alton towers family Ticket & In the Night Garden Toy.0 -
YesWould this mean the sub-forum would end up more like how Loquax list their postal and phone/text comps? I can definitely see the merit in it. Our existing thread can get a bit unwieldy, especially when there is a merge.
At the moment, I thank the posts I enter and also keep a note of the last page and post I've seen, so I know where to start again. I use the "Search this thread" option to check I'm not duping a comp. I think both of these small things would be easier to do/see if each comp was posted in separate threads in the same sub-forum.
A sticky for discussion would be a great idea too.Love all, trust a few. Do wrong to none.

The process of a new user getting to the thread at the moment is;
1. Go to the main competition board.
2. Click on "Sticky: NEW COMPERS PLEASE READ - Competition Board - useful links.
3. Scroll down to comment number 3.
3. Click the Postal, Text & Phone competition link.
4. Click on the link to get to the last page to view the most recent competitions.
If it were changed to a sub-forum, the process would be;
1. Go to the main competition board.
2. Click on the Postal, Text & Phone sub-forum to view the most recent competitions.0
