The only way to get what you want is to move to a house with a drive of your own. Nobody has a right to park outside their own house, and on a public road with no residents parking restrictions anyone is perfectly entitled to park there.

They have the right to park. You have no right to reserve or prevent them.:D
  • You don't own the road in front of your house any more than those currently parking there do.

You'll just have to learn to share.
    Thinking critically since 1996....
  • Rent a garage somewhere? Car share/rent a car when needed so you don't have the hassle of trying to park it?
As far as I know on a public road anyone can park. Perhaps if others have a similar issue then you could lobby the council and get residents parking permits brought in and designated spaces?
Oh, and by the way, how do you know that the people parking in the street are not neighbours with a similar issue but are other people?

Is this a private road or the public highway?

If it's public highway, then, as the description implies, and member of the public can use it. Either to drive, or to park (unless there are yellow lines/other restrictions or it is dangerous to do so).

    Refer to your Highway Code!

Hi, I don't think anyone can be prevented from parking on a street anywhere if their car's legally taxed and MOT'd, and there are no parking restrictions like double yellow lines/permits, etc.

Essentially, you have no intrinsic "right" to park outside your house, if there are no parking restrictions. Might be irritating, but the other drivers aren't doing anything illegal by parking there.

I live in a street with terraced housing and on-street parking; I can usually park outside, or very near, my house, but sometimes I have to park down the street a ways. It's never bothered me, because the neighbours are nice and so we all behave like reasonable adults and keep an eye out for each other. :)

The neighbour will be posting here in a few weeks concerning someone who thinks he owns the street.
    Been away for a while.
