Great pic, Islandmaid. You both look so happy!:o
Congratulations Mr & Mrs good advice. And best wishes for many more happy years to come.:o
One out, two in - Lizzie has gone, and Bailey & Cassie have arrived. We had to put B&C in the back garden for 10 minutes on their own while we got Lizzie out the front door, but it was no problem; they've been here many times before, and can be trusted out there - it's all enclosed, so they're perfectly safe. I've got them til 10th September.:o
HM nut loaf with sweet'n'sour rice for dins tonight; we haven't had that for a while, because the sweet'n'sour recipe I use calls for sherry, and we didn't have any.:DIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hello all.
Sorry now been on for a while. Been away for a week to Norfolk. It was lovely. Beautiful cottage in a beautiful area. I want to move there.
Kids back to school at the end of the week. I've still got lots of back to school things to do, am disorganised as usual.
Have menu planned this week.
Done some washing today. Towels in TD unfortunately as it's drizzling out there.
Need to do some ironing and pop to the shop this afternoon.
Congratulations island maid and good advice.
Hope everyone is ok
Love, hugs and spoons xxx0 -
Great to read all your news - I'm back at work today after my holidays but it's still really quiet until the students appear in a couple of weeks.
Walked into work again and had another walk at lunchtime - and I brought in my packed lunch. It's my first day back on my paleo diet after two weeks off it and I'm really feeling the strain - I'll be fine in a day or two.
I've found some great websites for creating your own wall art - I need pictures for my new house and want to avoid buying them ready-made if I can. I'm now looking for blank canvases - does anyone know where I can get some at a good price?
Hope everyone is having a lovely day.0 -
JULIAPENGUINE the chespest source of canvases that I know of is THE WORKS and they usually have most sizes in store, hope that helps, Lyn xxx.
DD1 had some canvases when she moved into her first house and found some beautiful remnants of material that she covered them with and they look super up on the walls.0 -
Afternoon all
Happy anniversary good advice
You looked beautiful on your wedding day Islandmaid
What about 'The Works' juliapenguin? I've often seen blank canvases in there
It has been a busy day so far today. We had our annual 'Back to School Picnic' on the living room floor which the kids enjoyed. Can't believe how quickly the holidays have flown by - they are back to school tomorrow!
The floors have had a good clean and both bathrooms have been done / pedestal mats washed. Found a mouse in a trap so had to dispose of that. The sideboards in the kitchen needed a good clean down as I made the piccalilli last night resulting in the dish cloths needing a bleachand the cooker needing a good clean too.
The bedroom floor is coming on and OH has said it should be finished by Thursday so the wallpaper can be hung at the weekend and then it's just the paint to be ordered and splashed on the remaining wallsI've waited so long for a nice bedroom and it is so close now
Hope everyone has had a good day2016 Grocery Challenge January: £296.20/£300 February: £262.05/£3000 -
Good afternoon
islandmaid you looked lovely.
It's been a busy day. Dogs got a good walk. German shepherd got chased off by a labrador and an irish wolfhound, I thought my dog was big! Serves her right for barking at them.
Got the whole house tidied, floors hovered and mopped. Three loads of washing done, treated myself to some clothes pegs so I can get more hung out.
Picked up prescriptions. Couldn't get parked near the butchers, so went to a$das, where I picked up a meat deal
1lb mince, 5 chicken fillets, 6 sausages, 3 burgers, 4 pork chops and a beef joint all for £20. I hope that was a good bargin, I'm starting to wonder.
Dd2 came home from school happy, after a morning of how she hates school, she hasn't been there for 9 1/2 weeks! I have lots of homework of backing books. I HATE backing books. Sent dd1 and her friend out to sweep the road today as they've left water balloon fragments everywhere. The street was multicoloured!
Dinner tonight will be mash and sausages, with whatever frozen veg is lurking in the freezer.LBM 04/10:j

I was going to have spicy mushrooms as part of my meal tonight but thought I would have a look and see if there were any other ideas as I always have spicy mushrooms when I cook them. Anyway, I came across this post in a thread:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=330323&postcount=11I love mushrooms with bacon and eggs (with potato bread, soda bread, and tomato). I buy them when they're reduced in price and cook them in butter, then freeze them in portion sizes to defrost as needed.
Another use if you find loads cheap is mushroom soup.
Pink
and what caught my eye was the mention of potato bread. I've not heard of this before. Has anyone had it and can let me know what it tastes like? I've found a recipe which looks easy enough but wondered if it was something people liked

Just popped back for a catch up.
Islandmaid - you look fabulous
GoodAdvice - Congratulations!
Juliapenguin - Might be worth a look in the 99p shops. I got some a couple of years ago there. Bit of a bargain!
Bit miffed as DS2 was supposed to finish at 3 and it's only a half hour drive away. I expect he has gone straight to a mate's house and not thought to tell me he got up the big hill ok.0 -

I've never baked it, but we have it every weekend with a fry. We call it spud bread:rotfl: Lovely with a fry or a spud bread sandwich with lots of red sauce mmm Not really sure how to describe the taste, it doesn't have the taste or consistancy of potato, it absorbs a lot of oil/fat when cooking, so use oil/fat sparingly. It should be a little crispy on the outside and soft, nearly doughy on the inside.LBM 04/10:j

Islandmaid you looked lovely, long may your happiness continue xxx
Happy anniversary Mr and Mrs Good advice
I managed to cut my right hand thumb quite badly ( a nice deep 2" cut while peeling the veggies yesterday what a daft moo I am
DH teased DD by telling her that the veggies were no longer suitable for her as I had bled on them (I didn't BTW) rotten devil.
It has been raining all day and it is DH's last day of his holiday, he is back tomorrow. To be quite honest we have had some nice days out but I will be glad for some peace and quiet now.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
