Is it your birthday today LW? If so hope you are enjoying it .
:DNo, mine was back in April - but it was my 54th. *cries*
Thanks for all good wishes re hubby's job it's only temp for a couple of months but that's ok for now.
'Tis better than a poke in the eye! And you never know, temp jobs can lead on to better things.;)

Mr LW is wfh again today, as he had his follow-up with the surgeon this morning. Not out of the woods yet, I fear.:( He's still suffering what we'd hoped was a temporary effect, and the surgeon is referring him on to another specialist. He's called the health insurance people, and confirmed it will still all be covered under his initial claim, so at least we shan't be £££ out of pocket.

I did take advantage of him being here - hand-washed a couple of tops; one has rhinestones on and I don't like to risk it in the machine, and the other runs better than Usain Bolt so has to be done on its own; but I can't wring out for a W£rther's these days, so I got him to wring them out for me.;)

Tomorrow he's got the task of entertaining the Hairy Hooligans outside while I do the Dys0n Tango.:D

Cane toad crushed underfoot at 8.00 with a phonecall to HMRC to clarify something about my tax return that has been worrying me sick. It turns out to be something that I do not have to even mention to HMRC :D

Dont you just love it when that happens, worrying about something that is nothing to fret over. Such a nice feeling.

So, paid stuff done at job number 1, quick log in and check e-mails for job number 2, doggie walked then washing brought in and more put out. Have been upstairs with the hoover and a pack of cleaning wipes and done a quick swish and swipe round the bedrooms.

In preparation for the start of work on the kitchen I have emptied one cupboard of pots, pans, mixing bowls etc that I dont use often. More to do. Just having a quick cuppa then back to it. I am going to pack the non-precious stuff into plastic boxes, seal them and put them in the greenhouse.

Dusty - I've read somewhere that putting green tomatoes next to bananas helps them to redden. Not sure if it works mind you, but maybe worth a go?

    Today's plan of action is:

Remove the last lot of wallpaper from the kitchen and go over the bits I've missed. There is only one bit of wall left to do but there is a fliddly bit above the windows.

Carpet fitter has been to measure up, as he knows my brother he'll see if he can find me an off cut for the stairs and landing :j so that should save a few pennies. I'm also having to re-floor the sun room 14 months after I last did it, due to the heavy rain we had in January which compromised the sun room roof and caused it to flood :(

It does work - I've done it before. Bananas produce a lot of the "ripening gas" ethylene (sp?). I'd forgotten all about it til Deco mentioned it, as I haven't grown toms for a couple of years.

I find it sort of works, never the same as sun ripened. Some are spread on the sunny kitchen window ledge and the AGA will add more head. Some around the LR bay and some in a brown paper bag to which I will add a banana, I know it works better if the gas in more contained.

I've wiped arund the bathroom, DS2 has applied for his student card and railcard. Going to do dinner now and get the washing in. Just the shower room left to wipe.

2 things thrown at ebeast. 10 items listed again :) So much neater when it is multiples of 5 *geek* lol

I have developed a headache.. probably from thinking about all the busy I have this next week. However the bunks are up Squeak LOVES it and Dot is moaning she wants a new bed but I need to save up for hers now.. I want her an ottoman bed so the extra bedding can be stored inside it.. MUST get this corner sofa on to sell/give away somewhere .. it is going to be muchly in the way tomorrow.

I can't wait for my crates to come on Sunday so I can start sorting the rubbish upstairs.. I am so fed up of the state of it up there it will be marvellous to see some floor again!! I have so much stuff to sell too and of course the charity stuff being collected next week :)

    Best feed the bawling Pixie..

I attached the new hinges to the painted cupboard and Squeak now has it as a bedside cupboard with her groclock and beaker on and is going to look for her best things to keep inside it.

  • having a right struggle today.....lots of dailies left today, but young skints taken to nursery and big school, I have done my group BD session, been to dump, been to bank to get cash for builders (who are still here) had a wild goose chase for DD3 who had allegedly bunked off school, but upon investigation she had been in all her classes....and managed to get to my pharmacy to get my scrip before it closed so now I have enough meds to go the weekend. DD2 dropped at her friends for the weekend.

DW has been done twice, and a few things rehomed in kitchen, currently have classical music playing in a hope to settle DS and DD4 down so I can get some more done in kitchen before the builder comes and the EX arrives in the morning too so all fun and games.....I need to get some serious ZZZ's as I have been struggling to keep awake the last 2 days.

Hugs sticks and spoons to all ......might pop back for some company in the morning.

    Nighty night
The cold never bothered me anyway

    More paperwork done
DS2 bed stripped and in the WM

Picked all my green tomatoes as blight is striking, only had one ripe one so far, very disappointing as they don't ripen very well once picked, the joys of gardening.

Going to do a bit more paperwork with DS2 now.

    What is blight?
I have had half a dozen tomatoes off my beast of a tomato plant and there are probably about 100 green ones still on there! There are starting to turn red. Is there something I should be doing?
