Cane toad crushed underfoot at 8.00 with a phonecall to HMRC to clarify something about my tax return that has been worrying me sick. It turns out to be something that I do not have to even mention to HMRC :D

    Today's list:
    - strip and remake bed
    - print and laminate 3 sheets of paper
    - WMx1
    - make up packed lunches
    - go out for the day with DH: we're going by train to Gloucester (the scenic route!) to see this free exhibition of contemporary sculpture.
    - deal with 2 molehills
    - mow the lawn
    - try various means of muffling but not totally deadening the chime on my grandfather clock. I'd forgotten how loud it is, and this house is a semi with fairly thin walls: I don't want the neighbours complaining!
    - HHI

The tax return can wait until tomorrow :p

Hope everyone has a good day. (((Hugs))), spoons and sticks all round, as needed x

Ionafan, you've hexed my day. Mentioning a tax return before 9.00 am. *Shudder*

Valli, I've never been in the 'empty nest' place (no kiddiewinks) but I do know it is a major turning point for a lot of women. Huge (((hugs))) to help you through something that I know you've been dreading, and if there's anything that Flyladies who are far, far away can do to help, please say so.

I did the dy$on dance on two layers yesterday an even washed a couple of floors, so I think I'll do the shower room and bottom layer today. My heart really isn't in cleaning at the moment.
    Better is good enough.

Sorry Honey Bear. I had to phone early or (like yesterday) the lines would have been so busy that I wouldn't have got through, even after holding for 30 minutes. Too much time wasted already!

Sooo much still to do today.

Cake is in the oven. Will decorate later when it's cool - really need about 2 hours for this probably :undecided

Dyed most of my hair last night, still need to dip dye the ends today.

    Then I need to:

    Put a laundry load on
Pick all random clothes up off the floor and put them away
    Unload & reload dishwasher
Tidy all the rubbish in the study
    Hoover bedrooms & bathrooms
    Wash bathroom floors
Clean bath, toilets, sinks & shower
    Empty bins
Pack bags for going away this evening
    Change bedding
Empty & clean makeup bag (blush exploded everywhere :( )

    Busy day!

First little bit of paperwork done.
Made a bach of gluten free scones for the first time, wonder what they will come out like.
DS2 has gone to help DS1 out at wrk for a few hours as he has been left in the lerch again, so glad he only has one week left.

Going to load WM now and then have a shower and take the scruffy polish off my toenails.

    Morning all

Bossy - Hoping everything goes perfect today & you make a speedy recovery.
Mummyroysof3 - Yay on the new job for your DH :T

I'm glad I gave DD an extra £5 this week for school, she's not only had to go and buy her ruler but needed to go and buy a new padlock for her locker. Silly girl left it on her locker over the summer so obviously school removed it. She also wants a specific thing for her packed lunches next week, which I've only seen in one shop so she said she'll call in there on her way home as there's a branch by school. Saves me going there for one item and coming out with £30 worth of stuff :o:rotfl:

I have lots of actual cleaning to do today. So far *touch wood* I'm not in any pain today so I'll feel better about trying to lug Henry upstairs. DD will be cleaning the bathroom & her room though as she's made the majority of the mess! No uniform to wash tonight as DD was hot, sweaty and smelly when she got home so I washed it all last night. Apparently school is like an oven but they can't open the windows as they have a wasp problem.

I put my nets up last night, and they're sitting about an inch above the window sill. I can't hang the rod any lower as it bends with being 2.1m long, so needs the additional support of 3 other hooks which can't go any lower due to the style of window. The next drop size up net would have been 5" too long. The point of having a full drop net was so I could open my window without getting a house full of flies/wasps so I can't drop it below the windows which open. I'm hoping if I wash it, then they will relax and drop a bit more. I only need about an extra 1cm if that! I also hung the curtains but they need shortening by about 8" so they'll sit behind the radiator when closed and also lift them off the top of the gas meter cupboard! I love this house, it so easy to decorate & furnish(!) :rotfl::rotfl:

    Weeks tasks:
    Livingroom:
-Touch up paint work (pipework on ceiling, cupboard door, 2nd coat gas cupboard, back wall & alcove)
-Final coat of paint on fire surround
-Order FF (codes, money back, store card AFTER budgeting to pay for it in less than 12 months)
-Decide on shelves for DVDs then purchase & put up!
-Clean paintwork up (Can't mask things off when painting as nothing is level enough for it to work properly!)
    -Deep clean floor
    Work:
[STRIKE]- Prepare books (forms, newsletter, bag)
    - Put books out[/STRIKE]
    - Pay bill
    Other:
[STRIKE]- BTS shop (socks, ruler, bus pass) Mon Still need a ruler - DD is going out for that later![/STRIKE]

Can't decide whether to go to Mr A now or drag DD with me later and brave the Friday night shoppers. Think I might go later as most of the stuff is for DD's packed lunches anyway and it'll give me a chance to do a stock intake as I have no idea what we have in the cupboards/fridge/freezer :o I am however, tempted by a new Mr A delivery pass for £18 which expires Jan 7th....which means I can have shopping delivered whenever which is better then trying to nab the £1 slots when I need bottled water for DD for school....I don't need to get a delivery every week, just when I need heavy or lots of stuff delivering, and it'd pay for itself with 3-4 weekend deliveries at £3-£6 a time depending when, and cover 2 lots of back to school shopping as well as Christmas...hmmm

Off to make another coffee while I fix the TV channels again after retuning it 4 times this morning (we keep picking up the Welsh transmitter, and although I have nothing against Wales, I'd like the north west channels instead!) then I'm going to get stuck in with the lists.

OOh - hope you enjoy it - we saw the original Crucible exhibition a few years ago and are planning on popping down to the cathedral tomorrow when in town anyway for a look at it. DS1 went in a couple of weeks ago and liked it :)

I've blitzed the food cupboard. There was lots of bits expired, and I've re-jigged the organisation. I've bagged up the popping corn into individual serving bags so DD can make her own popcorn without making too much ;) Then I attacked the shelves which were in a right mess thanks to DD baking unsupervised as she has a habit of just shoving stuff on the shelves instead of putting it away. Looks a whole lot better out there :D Now I need to go and wash all the empty containers etc :rotfl:

Washing is going well, the next to go in the machine is the net, and while its in there I'll start cleaning the window up, then I can take all the clean washing upstairs to be put away. I'm slowly dealing with the chaos, I should be there by the end of the month :rotfl::rotfl:

    More paperwork done
DS2 bed stripped and in the WM

Picked all my green tomatoes as blight is striking, only had one ripe one so far, very disappointing as they don't ripen very well once picked, the joys of gardening.

Going to do a bit more paperwork with DS2 now.
