  • Hi all,

I'm joining in if that's ok. We are FTB and had a DIP with Halifax which just required provision of one payslip for the full application (supported by valuation etc). We put in our full application via a mortgage advisor last Tuesday / Wednesday 8-9th September. We had already given all of our payslips, bank statements etc to our financial advisor just in case he needed them. He is quite confident there will be no issues with Halifax but I am worried as we haven't heard anything! We haven't yet had the money taken out for the valuation either. Reading some other comments it seems quite a delay in the valuation monies being taken and arranged - do Halifax do a number of searches pre valuation and only when they are happy proceed with the valuation? Do you think a week of silence is something to worry about? I am such a control freak so everything being out of my hands is stressful! So glad I'm not the only one struggling with this experience.
  • Hello I've joined today! I'm finding it all really scary!!
So I'm selling my shared ownership flat, and buying a house with my fianc!.
Our flats under offer and they have had their mortgage survey completed a couple of weeks ago.
We have found a house, had the offer accepted and the full mortgage application was put in yesterday along with the surveyor being instructed.
We are looking for a 60 /40 loan to value and are looking for a mortgage of £300,000. I checked experian who rated myself as the highest credit and my partner has great credit too. I'm just so scared they will turn round and say no!! I hate waiting!!

I feel your pain Constantstar. It's such a scary experience! I just hope I get some form of reassurance all is in hand before the weekend. I know our mortgage advisor isn't worried but they delay and silence for a week is unnerving!

Hi everyone... Thought I would join in on the timelines with Halifax so far:

4 Sep - offer accepted on house
7 Sep - full mortgage application on phone direct to HFX
7 Sep - mortgage valuation fee taken
9 Sep - Valuation carried out
10 Sep - valuation all ok
12 Sep - submitted payslips for me and the Mrs plus signed forms at local HFX branch

16 Sep - I called up the HFX contact centre to see where application is at. Told a mortgage advisor will call me in the next day or so as they need further bonus info faxed for the Mrs and have a question on my income.

Worried this is all going to go downhill... This is so stressful :(
  • My timeline so far

    14/9 application submitted
    17/9 survey booked for 24/9

I have never been so nervous or stressed before!
  • Update from me:

    01/09 - AIP from Halifax
    09/09 - Offer Put in
    10/09 - Offer accepted
    11/09 - Valuation fee taken
    21/09 - Valuation Completed

Anyone know what sort of timescale we are looking at after this point? I'm a worry wart and driving my OH mad! Our mortgage advisor is lovely, but I'm worried he's just trying to placate me by saying it will be completed once the valuation comes through when they've only had 1 months payslips (no bank statements) and I have a large amount of debt.

Should be offered by tomorrow/Thursday, if everything else needed has been sent.

  • Thank you Kingstreet - do you know if Halifax usually need more than just 1 months payslips?

He is most likely saying 'it will be completed once the valuation comes through' because he expects it will be completed once the valuation comes through.

Worrying about it wont make it happen any sooner.

Basic salary only = one month's payslip.

    Commission/overtime/bonus = three months' payslips.

  • Thank you both, I suppose I am the most dreaded of clients with my panicking but I'll try and put a lid on it!
