  • Shouldn't be too long now I wouldn't of thought, if there was no problems with the survey then it should be soon.

    *UPDATES*

    20/9: Viewed property.
22/9: Made an offer of £58k.
23/9: Offer accepted, called London & Country brokers that evening to find a mortgage, Halifax seemed the best option, so we emailed payslips.
24/9: 'digital' payslips not accepted, so I printed out the same digital payslip and scanned and emailed that instead (accepted).
25/9: Still awaiting AIP... Apparently the application is queued?
25/9: Contacted L&C broker to query where the AIP was as the EA needed it to confirm our offer, AIP is finally emailed at 8pm.
26/9: Called broker in the evening to check at what stage the application was. Broker said it was 'in a queue' and would be looked at next week.
29/9: Searches ordered, homebuyers survey (ours, not Halifax's) booked for next Tuesday, no sign of mortgage application being submitted we presume as no fees have been taken from our account. Emailed broker to check on progress.

29/9: called broker to find out if the application had been submitted (he had told us that it would have been submitted fully by the 26/9 ...).
30/9: Email from L&C allocating us a case manager, and confirming the application had been submitted. Now we need to send original payslips (last month only) and proof of deposit. Some small typos/errors in the application so we emailed the case manager to query this, and also asked her to confirm what would be accepted as proof of deposit (which is coming from parents).
1/10: Phonecall from EA to alert us that there is another survey being carried out on the same day as we booked ours! After my initial alarm (thinking that the vendor had accepted another offer), realised that this was Halifax's valuation survey already booked.
1/10: Several phonecalls to L&C during the day to find out answers to previous day's questions (no response). Called our original L&C advisor in the evening, who said that 'reading between the lines, from what Halifax have requested (proofs of payslips), they've already provisionally accepted your application'. Trying not to get too excited about this news before official confirmation ...
2/10: Finally a reply from our caseworker! Apparently pdf's are ok ... (they asked for originals, but now accept pdf?). We had sent off originals that morning anyway.

Reading through this thread, we're cautiously optimistic that our offer may come through very quickly after valuation next Tuesday. Our water/drainage/sewerage searches are already back, the local authority advertises that their searches only take 3 days, and the vendor's solicitor has been in contact with our solicitor to confirm there is no chain, nor any problems so far. Is it madness to think we may exchange and complete next week??

7/10: Our Homebuyer's survey and the Halifax's valuation survey both carried out. We were present for the last half hour of our survey (some small issus with roof repair which may lead to a small price renegotiation), but not for the mortgage valuation.

I keep checking our online status with the broker to see if an offer has come in, but nothing yet ... I'm assuming here that L&C will update us with news as soon as they hear anything from Halifax, but going on experiences with them to date, perhaps not ...

    9/10 OFFER RECEIVED!

We had an automated email from L&C this morning asking us to log on and provide a review of their services (gladly ...), so I assumed this meant that an offer had been received. By the time I'd logged on to our L&C tracking page, the 'mortgage offer received email had arrived'. Strange that the 'rate our services' ones appeared before the offer ...

Anyway, we're chuffed. Can't say L&C have been great with their communication at all, especially as they submitted the application on the 30th September when it could've been submitted 6 days earlier had the AIP been done on time..

Nonetheless, 9 days from application to offer isn't too bad I suppose.

  • Can anyone advise if Halifax are still using Experian?
  • Can anyone advise if Halifax are still using Experian?

    They do use Experian.

I had searches on my Experian report as of last month when we applied.

No searches showing on Equifax from Halifax.

Update appeal accepted just require last bank statement and tax credits award letter and proof of deposit. Anyone know how halifax are like I went in my overdraft in the last couple of months but not exceeded the overdraft limit which is all up to date and paid for. What else do they look for when they look at your bank statements. My broker suggested making sure they would lend after looking at my documents then going ahead with the valuation which seems fair enough

  • Is anyone aware of any delays at Halifax? Ours is now into the 6th week, everything was going great then it kept going from underwriter to processing.
Chased frequently with in house advisor who keeps saying final check and issue to be done by processing but there over a week behind because there all being told to do remortgage only as they all have to competed by the end of the month-I find this awful service, they even put that in writing on an email.
