Part of the Furniture 10,000 Posts Name Dropper I've helped Parliament
    Octavia/L&K/VRS/Scout.

Great value for money not paying extra £ks for the badge.

Boots are caverns and with seats down can take over 2m length.

L&K more toys than hamleys inc. electric memory seats mirrors handy if you share a car.

    VRS more sporty

    Scout more Xover.

in the 1.8 petrol relatively economical go a bit earlier and the diesels don't have dpf.

The Superb might be an option but even bigger loads of leg room.
  • With the Freelander you have the massive advantage of the huge pool of Land Rover spares from aftermarket companies such as Allmakes and Bearmach, rather than the usual OEM or 'branded' replacement parts prices.

Unfortunately, in my experience, you'll need them. My MG ZT-T uses the same engine as the Freelander 1 (00-06, from memory), and while it's good and made by BMW they're not overly reliable. Same with the gearbox/transmission - clutch slave cylinders fail, and in the automatic while the Jatco autobox is good, fuel economy isn't!

Shame there's no newer MG ZT-Ts about, as they're pretty good on the whole. I love mine. Massive estate with comfort, a bit of 'old man' charm and excellent handling.
Just with the newest rolling out of the factory 10 years ago, they're more a car for the DIYer now.

At 10k it should be a freelander 2 which is worlds apart.
