    Morning All

Not a bright day, hope it cheers up. Just taken DD to the station as she is staying in Glasgow tonight with friends and working again tomorrow, hope they have a good time. Also collected a parcel - some chalk for chalk paint. I gave my bag to someone to use some but didn't get it back, still it's cheap enough.
washing going on the airers again, DW emptied - still need to dust!

HH - A wise but sad choice.
JackieO - Glad you had a good holiday, sounds like you had fun.

Off to collect a small armchair from Freegle this morning and will go to the flea market (car boot sale with a posh name) as I got DD a lovely ring last week. There was a woman there that makes them, just stainless steel with a great big coloured stone on, but charges just £4. Thought I would get one to put away for that day in December.

Will probably have a stir fry for tea as I just have myself to please, looking forward to a night in on my own!

Have a good weekend. Take care. XX
  • Good Morning everyone, damp here this morning after a windy night but predicted to cheer up and be dry later. I'll wait to see before putting the washing on though.

He Who Knows is coming home this morning from taking DD1 home yesterday so I'll be taking the Dockling for his morning walkies today which won't make him happy as I do the on lead one on the tarmac to keep his nails worn and he usually has his wild running round with his doggy pals one, no matter, back to normal routine tomorrow.

I'm making a couple more wartime cake recipes today to see us through the week, a wartime christmas cake (light on the dried fruit) and some oaty chocolate squares in anticipation of my christmas menu so I can keep or change the plan according to the niceness or not of the finished recipes. I'm always surprised at how nice things from WW2 turn out though, perhaps it's because they're so simple as recipes?

Hope you all have a good day, Lyn xxx.

Mornin' everybody :hello: - yet another dull, damp start to the day here. Windows are spattered with raindrops at the moment :(. Hope it clears up as I quite fancy a stroll up to our tiny shopping centre.

jlhmd - thanks for starting today's thread for us. I DID have a look earlier, but couldn't see anybody 'out to play' at the time, so played 'Spider Patience' for a while ;). Hope they all enjoy the Spanish Tortilla for HShungry.gif.
good advice - your quiches sound delish. I bought some 'bacon bits' last week with the intention of making a couple myself, just not got around to using them yet - but they'll keep for a while till I'm ready to do them :). I'm another 'Value/SmartPrice flour' gal myself - once it's been well-sifted, it's as good as any other :D.
tatablubbly - well done you on the shopping list :j - and best of luck with sticking to it ;). You'll need to be stronger-willed than I am :o.
Gers - 'welcome back' from your Aberdeen trip - sounds as though you had a lovely evening :). You seem to like watching your 'bird cam' - have you ever seen this one at Loch Garten (Abernethy) Osprey Centre.
JackieO - welcome back to you too. What an eventful return journey  - but sounds as though you had a fabulous time :j.
carolbee - enjoy the wartime tunnels. Some 'air-raid shelters' have been re-discovered in one of our local parks, and there's now avid fund-raising going on to get them made safe to re-open to the public :D. It's something that I really look forward to being able to visit.
Hester - think your DD has made a wise decision - at least for the time being - where her father is concerned. She's got quite enough going on in her life just now and certainly doesn't need any of the problems that he seems to bring into his relationships. Best wishes to her for a safe delivery :).
nmnlc - oooooh HSblinky_ani_bearhugs.gif for you - hope your OH comes to realise that he's 'bang out of order' right now. Maybe the attentions of your DS1, parents and friends, will give him a nudge in the right direction. Best of luck to you hun :).
tru - sounds like you've got 'A Perfect Day' planned - enjoy it :D.
camelot - enjoy your day at the flea market - sounds like fun :j.
Mrs LW - I sent for a couple of the books that you've mentioned on another thread and they've arrived :j - looking forward to making some of the recipes in them. They make for rivetting reading about wartime constraints on the 'Home Front' :).
Islandmaid - doubt if you'll find time to read this thread today, but HScongrats.gif to you and DH - have a wonderful day.

HScyboie_glitters.gif and pray1.gif for all those who are facing problems, ill-health, depression/anxiety.

Finally returned Billy-Blue-Eyes to his mother yesterday evening - he was beginning to get a 'bit fretful', but he'd been such a good little fella for most of the day :). His energy-levels aren't his fault, he's just hard to keep entertained.

Yesterday, I made a big pan of Leek & Potato Soup  - it's now in the freezer for future use during the colder months. 4 single portions and 1 double-portion - our portions of soup are 'three ladles', so very substantial ;).

Also made a Rhubarb & Apple Muesli/Crumble - first time I've added the muesli to the crumble, OH declared it to be 'a winner' :j!

Managed four loads of laundry, yesterday - despite the distraction of Mr Blue-Eyes - the only stuff that went in the TD were my knickers! Not leaving those displayed on the maiden with an inquisitive 6yr old around :o.

DS's 1&2 have gone off to collect the 'chicken coop' (ex duck-house) from a lovely lady freecycler. It's so lovely to see them both getting on now - they'd have been 'near-killing each other' in their teens .

    Plans for today include -
    • Have a much needed shower and get my bedhead sorted out :o.
    • Give the living room a desperately needed vaccuum - don't know what Billy scattered around, but it's everywhere. He also had tissues in his trouser pockets that I didn't know about and the bits came out all over the carpet when I put them on the airer!
    • IF the weather improves, go for a walk to local shopping centre then visit Mr T's to see if they've got any '5pm whoopsies' for me ;).
    • Sort out/put away the clean laundry from yesterday. Only thing left to finish drying is a fleecey blanket that's still sitting the WM - that can go over the airer for a few hours.
    • Going to have to re-do my Freezer Inventory - for about the 4th time this year! I stopped updating it properly when I was visiting mum in hospital. Heaven alone knows what exactly is in there . Mum would be :rotfl: - last time she stayed with me, she thought my freezer was a 'Lucky-Dip' :D.

Ok then, it's time for another coffee.gif THEN I'm off for a HSsingshower.gif

be back in again later - have a good OS day - luv Lilyplonk xxx

    Good morning everybody.

Absolutley miserable day here. No going out on the bike, no walking the dogs, no washing on the line.

Need to head into a$da to get some dinner for tonight and pick up something else for dd's bday. I'm trying desperatly hard not to buy her things that she won't use just for the sake of giving her something. Her little friend is meant to be coming over for a sleepover tonight but I'm not sure I can face it. She can be a hard child to put up with, does that sound awful? There's just some children that take over the house and some you wouldn't know were there.

OH and I enjoyed a chinese last night (oh too tired to go out for a meal) and went to the cinema to see Lucy (our dd2 name : ) ). It was a very good movie.

Am tempted to go and get dd's from Nannys to go and get the school shoes as theres not really anything to do. I'm just really bored today lol. I might bake this afternoon. I haven't baked in months and would like to get back into it.

Off to look up some recipes.

    Morning all,

Woke at 5.40 this morning on my day off :( I was desperate for a lay in after a manic busy week at work ! never mind will just have to have a nap later on !

DD has had her hair chopped off into a shoulder length bob, she had a terrible haircut last time and her hair had gone from really thick to thin and wispy, so she has cut it all to one length and is going to grow it again. The new cut is lovely though and really suits her.

Need to have a good clean through today and hopefully OH can do the lawns, might pop out to home sense for a browse, and we need forks as ours have magically disappeared !

Not sure about dinner might do a steak sandwich, dd will be out with her young man, its very sweet for the first time ever she seems quite smitten with this one, normally she can take or leave them, he is lovely though.

Islandmaid hope today goes well for you xxx

    Have good days all xx
  • Good morning everyone :)

We are promised some sunshine today according to the Beeb weather forecast but it's not here yet, so am waiting to put washing out then want to go for a walk.

Shopping on the way home and get some more batch cooking for the freezer and packed lunches sorted out tomorrow. Am so tired and it was only 4 days at work this week, I know I went back way too early but I won't do that again.

Islandmaid - I hope you have a wonderful wedding day

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

Would you mind posting the recipe for the oaty chocolate squares when you have time please MrsL :)

nmlc try not to do too much all at once

The Spanish Tortilla - or bacon and egg omelette turned out well and was well received by those who like the combination of ingredients. Fussy child wouldn't eat it though. I've put a wash on and completed the ironing. Not sure if the weather will hold out to get it dry but will try. OH is going to start varnishing the bedroom floor today so we can hopefully start decorating. I have a lovely wallpaper for the feature wall so I'm getting excited that it will soon be finished :)
