dmg24 My manager will probably contact HR tomorrow so I expect to know more when I go into work tomorrow afternoon. I've heard that she has been discussing it with another employee. The employee told me today that she was told by my manager of my appointment and that I said I wasn't going but my manager told this other girl that's just tough, she's going.
colin13 Sorry to hear about what happened to you and that you ended up having to give up workThese people seem totally incompetent
it really does annoy me.
LondonDiva I have already told the HR lady that I won't be attending and also put it in an email to her as she requested. You're right, I've probably made it worse for myself. I was just so angry and still am tbh. I really have had enough
I'm concerned that your manager is discussing this with another employee. From what has happened in the past, they really don't seem to have a clue as to how to manage people.
In hindsight, do you think you would now go to the medical, if it was rearranged for a more convenient time? If so, I would speak to the HR woman again, explaining why you didn't want to attend (the fact that you had not been notified, had not had a copy of the previous report etc) and that now you have thought about it, you understand why they wish for you to attend. Also put it down in an email. I'm sure this would go a long way to placating them xGone ... or have I?0 -

If you have the strength for it, a formal grievance would be in order, both about this, AND the lack of communication with you about your appointments.
It's astonishing you're as well as you are!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

I had a chat with my manager today and she kind of made me see that the Doctor at Occupational Health is there to help me and tbh I should just forget about the incompetent HR woman as I don't have to see her. I guess that makes sense. Maybe I will see the Doctor but probably not this Fri.
I was really upset at work today. I was chatting with this guy at work (he's been there 2 years, he's 25) he's aware I have been looking for a place to live and he said he was out with his friend who asked him if he knew anyone, he was going to mention me but then decided it wasn't a good idea 'cos I self harm. I said what difference does that make, he said well what if he came home and there was blood everywhere or if something happened to you then he'd be left to pay the rent. I said I don't intend on informing housemates of my self harm anyway, definitely not right away, if it came up later on then I'd deal with it. He said well if it was him he would want to know if a person self-harmed before agreeing to live with them. He really did upset me today-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

Some people can be so insensitive, he should have considered your feelings.
I'm sure he didn't mean to upset you, not that it makes any difference....
Hope you're OK now.... Big hugs for you..

The ignorance of some people never ceases to amaze me. You are such a thoughtful and caring person, anybody would be lucky to have you as a flatmate xGone ... or have I?0 -

I don't think I updated after my last appointment. Anyway, I went to see the OH Doctor on 1st May. I had a few issues that I mentioned to him that he said was best discussed with my manager. In the report that was sent to HR it suggested that a meeting take place between myself and my manager with some additional support i.e someone from HR to make the meeting easier on my part. It's now 21st June and since my appointment I have heard nothing from HR
I keep asking my manager if she's heard anything and she says no and that the HR lady that was dealing with it has moved to a different region and she doesn't know who to contact. She emails various people incl. the area manager and no one seems to reply, she keeps saying that she will speak with the area manager when she seems him. He came to the branch at the end of May but said he didn't know what was happening and that he would find out...I'm still waiting!
I'm due to go back to OH in about 1-2 months time.
I really am fed up with the way I've been treated and have thought about writing to HR expressing my disatisfaction with the process and lack of communication. Do you think I'm overreacting? Is this normal treatment when you're referred to OH?-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

Hi rbk,
Was just wondering how you were getting on, spooky timing!
I can honestly say that I think that the way that you have been treated, both by HR and by your management team, is atrocious.
I think at the moment you have three options:
* Wait for someone to take some action (could be waiting a long time)
* Contact OH and ask to be referred again now, in the hope that they may contact HR on your behalf and insist on some action
* Submit a formal grievance
I am torn between which of the latter two I would go for. The second may have some effect, but ultimately you would be quite justified in submitting a grievance and having this situation escalated.
It seems that, by referring you to OH, HR think that they are fulfilling their obligations towards you. I don't think they are at all, and I don't think that you are overreacting x
(Sorry if I sound like I'm ranting, just know how it feels!)

Thanks dmg. I did think perhaps it is me overreacting but if you agree then it can't be. I am very tempted to submit a grievance.
Thanks again for the advice, much appreciated.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

I don't think you are overreacting either. Unless you WANT to raise a grievance, which could make things more difficult, I would get in touch with OH and ask if THEY think it is acceptable, and ask them to hassle on your behalf. That still leaves you the option of raising a grievance if that doesn't get you anywhere, doesn't it?Signature removed for peace of mind0
