Looking forward to a new signature tomorrow!
I'll be dealing ONLY in hard cash for food shopping.
I'll be buying myself NOWT from the charity shops.
I'll be exercising HARD and FREQUENTLY.
I'll be doing regular TILLY TIDIES.
I'll use the car LESS and the bike MORE.
I'll get 10 VEGGIES most days.
I'll BAKE once a week and thus make a start on using up a backlog of baking ingredients.
I'll CULL my wardrobe.
I'll SAVE the extra pennies - not so good at making, but am better at not spending them.
I'll get out there and dance, appreciating what I've got, enjoying quiet reflective times.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Hurray it's starting at midnight!!
So I'm on holiday next week (8/9/14) for just under the week, but it's self catering so I will be taking food with me, I've worked a menu plan out already! And my grocery budget will be £100 for the month. My fuel will be £45 for the three weeks I'm at home and I have the holiday budgeted for (been putting money away for it). I will have at least 15mins quiet time each day, 15 nsd,pay my cc when I get paid and withdraw cash for the rest of the month.
My something new will be one recipe a week either main or desert, and I will put three items in the food bank at work.
So that's me done for the night so off to bed I go as in work for 6am tomorrow.
Oh I've had a lovely day after working until 2pm (another 6-2 shift) 2dds other halves and children came round for dinner so had a house full - really love my family.

So we begin.
I have already paid all the minimums on the credit cards (this months but paid as soon as bill arrived -as soon as the bill was on its way, in one case) and the loan repayment goes out today (finishes in November). My priorities are clearing a card with less than £200 on it and finding the money to pay the second half of the water bill.
A flat four month week as far as income is concerned which is usually a little bit short but I have not yet been paid for the things I sold in August and have more to list.
Food budget is £100, £33.52 has been spent as I needed an all day bus ticket to get to my appointment on Wednesday so did multiple trips. Keeping travel at £30. It should be less but I expect my surgery consultation to come through and may then get referred to see other people.
I have been doing a lot of quiet reflection but want to be outside more (under the trees). Perhaps on the days I have to buy a bus ticket I can do an extra trip in the evening (there are trees and benches a few stops from my house). I have candles (wonderful price – free).
15 SFDays should be easy, only planning on weekly visit to mum's and hospital appointment. Maybe a couple of extra library/ shopping trips.
Healthy eating, carrots, celery and broccoli already boxed for snacks, grated carrot to make cake, planning Mexican rice salad with lots of veg, a broccoli and sweetcorn pie with tuna sprinkled on top and a large green salad for tomorrow.
I am going to continue updating my computer skills and cook more bean dishes.
Need to kick start the weight loss again as I need to fit comfortably into my two skirts and a dress, the larger sized ones have all gone apart from the one that is covered in paint and dirt (it has been washed but previous intensive gardening means the dirt is ingrained)
For exercise I will be taking regular jaunts around the house and back and forwards to the bins and shed and doing hand clenching exercise (working my way through the arthritis books taking notes so will learn more.
So come on everybody, let's keep Kat's legacy alive. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Morning everyone
I'm working from home today. Not feeling great, so will just do my normal hours of 8.30-4:45. I have had to spend jut under £45 on school uniform and buy my mum a heater as she has no heating. My shopping always gets done when I'm paid so that was done on 29th August. I do have a combined gas and electricity bill for 466.00 to pay by the 3rd of this month. I'm under 6k now so very happy about that :T I will make sure today I do some walking and will attempt to get back into the 30 day shred
Take care everyone

I really can't believe that it's September already, I don't know where the summer's gone. Even though I'm no longer a teacher, September still feels like a time of new starts for me and this September in particular. I handed in my master's dissertation yesterday and will be debt free on the 15th September, so this month for me is all about new starts and starting to build a positive future after a very difficult couple of years. What better way to do this than with ninja turtle squirrels!
So targets for this month:
- leave my desk and take a walk of 30 minutes at lunch at least 4x weekly. This will also have the advantage of getting me away from a screen and de-stressing me a bit, during a very busy but interesting period at work.
- take advantage of the next 3 weeks of freedom from studying to catch up on a lot of jobs that I haven't done whilst writing my dissertation, and to read books/ see friends etc. Also to prepare to go back to uni at the end of the month, for my final year of my HR qualification.
- Pay off my debt on 16th September and close my old current account at the end of that week.
- Continue to have a clear out (I've made £90 on amazon this weekend selling books/ things I don't use anymore) and take all old clothes/ shoes to the charity shop.
- Pay for a car repair, books and personal items from this money as far as possible.
Target numbers:
Groceries: £52.57 (until 15th September)
£120 15th September- 15th October
Fuel: £16.14 (until 15th September)
£60 15th September - 15th October
Daily Exercise: 0/ 18
SFD 0/18
Food Bank 0/£3
I will also attempt to introduce the quiet reflection and always take my lunch to work, as there isn't anything I like nearby.
Very excited about our first challenge.... I almost feel we need a theme tune. Thanks again mother nerd!Proud to be debt free September 2014. :j

DFD: 15 April 2015
Debt first: £681 on, or by payday (mid month). DD set up to tsfr £500+ one off £60 to cover expenses reclaim on the 15th.
Food: £60 cupboards are fairly full, packed lunch stuff filling freezer, and this is the foraging season!!
Fuel: £60 car is currently nearly full, no long journeys planned, cycle to work should be possible again from Thursday (when there is a free bike clinic at work!)
DD (back to school/clubs):£25
Health: £300 (eye appts, glasses, contact lens order. Been waiting a year to start ordering lenses again, as I economised on these when fighting the first debt!)
Entertainment: £370:eek: This includes booking travel and accom for two weekend breaks for later in the year, which are our gifts for special birthdays for special people! Trips anticipated to total £320, leaving me £50 social, £25 of which is membership fees!
Exercise: /20
NSD: / 15
Learn new: DIY task/course / presentation skills / meal. Wavering between these, may just go for them all!
On the learning new subject, my friend started learning sign language via youtube courses, so that might be a free option for those interested..she is now (many formal courses later) working as an interpreter! The other free learning resource that has impressed me this year are the MOOCs - quality university courses that you can follow for free in an amazing range of subjects. I'm doing one on making presentations at the moment. http://www.mooc-list.com/
I am expecting friends kids to descend any minute, we are (I think) off to the waterpark for DD's treat..although very cloudy here. I am off to bake some brownies and make a flask of hot choc to take with us. All other picnic grub we have already. We are also calling into the opticians to hopefully order my new contact lenses! Best of all, I get to sit on the beach and watch them, so some much needed outdoor time. I could stare at the sea all day!
Congratulations SOA on both your big achievements this month! Well done Fmess on your debt %, and mothernerd, well done on herding us in the right direction, and good luck beating that next card!
Happy September folks x0 -
Morning guys.
The new month starts tomorrow for me really as today is the last day of the school holidays for us. I will keep spends to a minimum today though.
I am currently giving some thought to the new skill I would like to learn so will update on that when I have decided.
I too would like to start eating more meat free meals for environmental and financial reasons, if anyone has any good recipes or a source for recipes please share.
I have set my SFD target and updated my signature.
KAT - if you are still reading this month thank you so much for what you have done, I joined in January and your challenges were just the kick up the backside I needed.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler
