  • I too need to be very good this week! Wishing you a less eventful week this week soa, and mothernerd - lots of rest and lots if strength! Here is to long, hot baths (I am aiming for a proper deep, keep topping it up one next weekend when I have the house to myself!). Mothernerd - great mini challenge. Bike lights were on my agenda, plus general check the car maintenance over.

Oohh...whose going to step into Kat and Mothernerds shoes!! I suspect the list of leaders who have done us all proud will grow and grow over the next few months (making this only a tad more daunting as the months go by!). Soa, sounds good to get in quick!

Mothernerd, can you help us future thread runner wannabes once you are done by sharing any tips? You have done us really proud :) I can happily throw my hat in the ring for November now if you like, unless people have great running up to Xmas ideas that they want to share...(if so, I'm equally happy to wait until the new year). Hopefully between us we will always have busier months at different times. I am lucky in that mine are fairly predictable (on the work front, at least).

Turtles - awkward or not - lets nail this week and do mothernerd proud!

So.... counted everything to update the sigs and we are not doing too badly.

    SFD = 11/15 (including today).
    Shopping budget: £104.40/£120.

    So, still on course...
    :)

In other (good) news: My OH has been offered a permanent contract with the company he is with (they were bought over so it was a bit worrying). It means a wee bit of a wage drop but he now gets sick leave, holidays and medical cover which are great bonuses.
    :D

In other (even better) news: His sister met a man the other day who is going to help my OH get his foot in the door with his chosen profession (he recently completed a lot of training but had not been able to get a job in that field so went back to his original career). So I have high hopes for that as they have been in email correspondence.
    :o

Hope everyone is doing okay. I am so sorry to hear about all the mummy problems. I honestly don't know what I would do if mine got sick, I don't know if I would be able to cope at all. I hope everyone who needs support manages to get it.
    Hugs.

Mothernerd another brilliant idea, did check over my car yesterday. You have done a crackin job this month, will try to finish the month and keep within my budget.

Rik Astley failed to impress me, was amusing but found his voice whiny after 1st hour. He was always cheesy. Nevermind nice to catch up with a friend and had a nice meal came out of food budget - Harvester 3 courses tenner! Toffee Sundae yummy - my tum seems better. Not pigging this week, want to keep the weight I have lost off.

I will have to spend today, no bunny food left, nor bread, milk, face cream.

Plan not to spend the next 4 days up to 10 SFD the flood has kept me busy and out of the shops.

Tonight joys of emptying bedrooms for carpets tomorrow and bit more glossing, yes Mothernerd your lifestyle seems to be catching.

    Have a good day folks

  • Hey all!

    Hooray Monday is over! :)

Sending positive vibes to those that are unwell, going through frustrating times. x

Had a lovely day in a row boat yesterday. I kept crashing it. Never get into a boat with me in command of the oars! Haha. Also convinced my OH to donate two whole bin liners of decent clothes (some not even worn), to charity instead of just putting it out with the rubbish. Drove him to the charity donation centre, think he felt pretty good after. He is terrible for just throwing away instead of recycling! That'll all change when we eventually move in together- mwahahah!

I'm up to 12 SFD's now :T I think I'll be hitting the 15 target by the end of the month! My exercise could be better, but now I am in a much more active job, that should help to improve my laziness of late!

Regarding October's thread I am happy to step back for October as we have 2 willing [STRIKE]victims[/STRIKE] contenders who are happy to take the reigns over from mothernerd, and also whilst I get into this new work routine. I'm using some of my evenings for studying, some for crafting, so have not been on here every eve, which would not make for a reliable thread leader next month. :o

mothernerd - Love the weekly challenge! May be car drivers can also do their under bonnet checks- make sure levels are all good, get some antifreeze ready for the colder months, top up the washer fluid, check the oil etc... check windscreens for any chips, which could cause issues during the wintry months in case it drops below freezing, also to check/ top up tyre pressures if needed.

Right I'm off to do a bit of studying!

    Catch you all tomorrow x

Evening little squirrelly turtles. So applemuncher is keen to do October and crazylady2009 has confirmed her preference for November. I have then put the remaining volunteers into alphabetical order, thus

Provisional timetable (subject to individual commitments)
    December Fmess Confirmed
    January LoveaDove
    February speakingofart Confirmed
    March TiptoesDB

If any of those don't suit, let me know and we can swap around. After that it would be me again unless other volunteers step up.

I am pleased you like the mini-challenge (all have been well received). I had an idea of what I wanted the month to be scribbled out in rough and used various bits of Kat's to get the template. When I had the appropriate software (thanks to DS3) I started to put it together properly. It looked huge (like my epic posts) so I checked by doing a word count on a couple of Kat's challenges. I had the rules down separately (actually had most things down twice if not three times due to my own parsimony in finishing off at least 3 ends of notebooks plus the odd bit of loose paper).

I was aware of the bits where I thought I might not be great and paid particular attention to them. Did lots of honing and tidying until it felt coherent and whole, rather than random ideas cobbled together or those diagrams where you put everything on a sheet of paper then draw in the connections between them. Got worried as August progressed as other people brought up things I had scribbled down (the Borg mind episode). Also worried that it wasn't a Kat challenge (being squirrels isn't as epic as being Katniss Everdeen) but I am not Kat so my challenge will have a different 'character' as will the ones to come.

This is a strength - each of us will bring something different to our challenges but together we make a cohesive whole.

A SFD today. I have had a 'gentle' day (still not got dressed). I have sorted through a box of screws (doing a tool sort as so many people have been using my tools they were scattered all over the house), brought vegetables upstairs to peel/ chop and grate and done a paper purge. Still fighting the urge to doze.

Emptied several large boxes, hung up clothes and found the paperwork I was worried about the other day. One of the things I am most looking forward to about being debt free is simplifying the paperwork. Knowing all the money for the month's standing orders was in the bank at the beginning of the month and not frantically checking whether I had to pay in or move small amounts about to meet a particular bill would be so relaxing.

Hope you have all had a good day and we all have a good week.

    Hey gang

Lilt and mothernerd Bestest wishes for your mums rapid recoveries xx

Calling Hope youre getting on top of things after your flood disaster

Allie Im liking the way youve set your goals, you should do well if you stick to them! I tend to make up various goal targets as I go along depending on how I feel and get cross with myself when I dont achieve :(

So, 2 SFDs gained over the weekend due to working nights. Spend day today however on manuka honey as I think I caught a chill outside during the early hours of this morning and am feeling a bit throaty! Home made hot lemon, honey and ginger drinks should do the trick :) Made the most of my spend day and bought milk, cereal and other basics which should tide me over the next few days..

Washing machine repair man came today and didnt find fault with it, so Ive loaded her up and fingers crossed she wont conk out for the second time :D

Current account is looking a little grim at the moment as I am also overdrawn like you luckystarr :( I wouldve been ok this month if I hadnt put a deposit on the poxy flat move that never happened :undecided Ne'er mind, we live and learn eh :p...

Pay day is in 4 days time, so time to re plan the budgets ready for a fresh new month! :T Thank you in advance to mothernerd for your crackin September Squirrels challenges  and thank you to whoever will be taking the baton! Whoop!! :j

  • Hi everybody, hope you had a good thrifty day. I am in bed already! Dd away to her Dads, guests for tonight all tucked up exhausted after a flight from Taiwan (the world really is coming to me this year), bought no work home with me, am weary so thought let's just hit the sack. I am so bad at going to bed - never grew out if my student days, and often find myself tackling projects for work at silly o clock. I am thinking of giving myself a certain number of 'lights on' hours as the winter draws in, and tucking up in bed much earlier as a result! Just accepted another guest for Saturday, so it will be Sunday before the house is empty (and I get my bed back). Good for keeping me busy though! Ate odds and ends from freezer and fridge, NSD - same planned for 2mrw. Architect friend came round to talk over plans for the extension...it is gradually taking shape now! But still...lots of cash to save. Hoping to take loan below 3500 before month is out. I am on track for paying off a few months ahead of my debt free goal, but I am conscious that over the winter months my guest income dries up quite a bit, and all other bills go up! I know I have one bill to settle with Dd's Dad, but am not expecting anything else too scary. We have a couple birthdays (gifts already in for adults, Dd still choosing for her mates) and one weekend away ( need fuel, will take food, need to.buy a few event tickets for things while we are there). I really hope I can get to 1.5k by the end of the year, without adding to the cards! We can do this squirrely turtles x
