    Me and my girlfriend will have about £1400 saved up but I'd like another £1k or so to be safe. 3 of those days will be in Oktoberfest where I can easily see myself spending £300+/day between the two of us.

    My Barclay card will be here next week. I'll try increasing the limit on that instantly.

    If your accommodation is already included you don't need £300 per day for Oktoberfest. You just don't. You cannot physically eat and drink £300 worth of food an booze in a day at that festival. Alcoholic poisoning and vomiting will stop you long before that.

    Frankly, to come onto a money-saving website and ask for advice on how to obtain credit to spend on booze and food (which is essentially what spending money is at Oktoberfest) makes me think you are either trolling or in the wrong place.

    Enjoy Oktoberfest, it's a great laugh. You have more than enough with £1400 for five days spending money.
    Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

    That's £300 between the two of us. I can easily spend £200 a night myself in Glasgow so I don't think I'll have too much trouble spending that in a day in germany.

    Also, I'm here for money advice. Look at the domain name. It is not frugaljerks.com

    Never pay on credit for something it will take you longer to pay off than you'll have it to enjoy.

    ^ This, a thousand times over. I also see that you've already paid for flights and accomodation and you have £1400 spending money FOR FIVE DAYS and you don't think it is enough :rotfl:

    If I was going to spend £2.5 - £3.5k for a holiday for two people, I'd want something a bit more exotic than a minibreak in Germany.
  • My OH and I had 10 days all-inclusive at a 5 star spa resort in Mexico last summer for £2 500

    I liked it because of the funny at the end.

    All the above is money advice, don't take out a loan for spending money for a holiday when you already have more than enough.

    Just because it isn't what you want to hear doesn't make it wrong.

    Anyway, if you are so determined you have few options. CC, OD, borrow from friends/fools/family.

    Serious replies only please, as I've already stated.

    Well that will rule out all replies then since they will be the sensible options.

    Take what you can and eat very cheaply. No need to spend money you can afford to not do without.

    If you genuinely think you will spend that much money in 5 days at the Oktoberfest, my god are you wrong. A maß (1L) of beer will set you back 10€, if you and your SO are going to drink 15L EACH per day, you have a real issue. Even food isn't that expensive, you can get a whole chicken in the tents for 10€, you can get a Streifenkarte on the U-Bahn for 13€, that gives two adults 3 trips each within the city.

    You really need to recalculate. I've been to the Oktoberfest for the past 5 years and very rarely spend more than 60-80€/Day. The credit you're applying for is at ridiculous interest rates (Guessing you've been given a BarclayCard Initial at 34.9%, Capital One at 34.9%), you shouldn't be borrowing even more money to spurge on stupid luxuries.

    Stop buying bottles of Grey Goose in nightclubs and you won't have that problem. If you're wanting to save money, you don't spend stupid amounts of money on stupid things.

    You're getting this kind of response because you're condoning irresponsible borrowing, something 99% of people on this board do not condone.

    £1,400 just for food/drink/activities for 5 days is more than enough. I'm there for 3 weeks in September and will be spending far less than that.
    Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

    How ? Are you staying at the Glasgow Dorchester and importing a dozen high-class escorts ??
  • How ? Are you staying at the Glasgow Dorchester and importing a dozen high-class escorts ??

    Travel = £20-100
    Drink = £200-300

    A low class escort is like £300 and a night at the Dorchester is probably not far off that so I'd be spending a lot more if that was the case. :beer:
