    Morning all,

TTFTM glad you're healing well but do remember to listen to your body!
Lily sounds like yesterday went well, it is a shame it takes something like this to bring family together.
RR Happy Birthday. I also do the gel nails at home and always get compliments, it's so shiny! Best advise I can give is do fingers on one hand fully, then fingers on the other hand fully then two thumbs. Means you can twist your hand without polish slipping. I have to do it more regularly than if I went to a salon (on fingers, toes last ages!) but it's so much cheaper I don't mind.

Had a nice evening with my friend and her kids, I have so much respect for her seeing how she has to cope with them being so close in age (7, 6, 4). They can be a little naughty at times but we ended up all snuggled under blankets watching a movie so it's forgiven. Got home about 9.30 so sat down to a bit of TV then bed. Did put away the clean/dry washing and finally tidy up the toiletries in the bathroom. Got so much at Christmas and Birthday and it was all higgldy piggldy that I didn't know what i had. So much moisturiser I may never need to buy again! This year I might give a list of toiletries I need/don't need to avoid it getting worse!

I'm off into town after work to the hairdresser, it's been nearly three months so my split ends are  For the first time in years though I really love my hair. I had it bobbed since I was about 19 till I was about 26/27 when I made the huge mistake of getting it cut VERY short. After a week I hated it but I really struggled to get it to grow. I ended up getting extensions when I was 30 and had them for almost two years and oh it was so lush. Now I'm delighted that my hair is chest length and thanks to the new loreal shampoo the thickness of it has improved too. Everytime I see my friends (including last night) they ask if I still have extensions in, they've been out for almost a year now!

The BF is meeting me in town to come back to mine for the night, tea of HM chicken dippers and chips and probably a movie night. Hoping seeing him tonight will mend some of the wobbles I'm having at the minute. I've had one too many bad relationships and a terrible habit of overthinking things, combined this is a recipe for disaster.

Hope you're all having a nice day, hugs to those who need or want them.

Morning everyone from a still sunny and bright Aberdeen. Got the morning off so slob bing in my hotel room and watching harbour activity.

Glad to hear that the funeral went well Lilyplonk. It's always an awful day, my last attendance was at my brothe's funeral in Melbourne in 2007 and it still brings tears to my eyes.

Life in hotels is strange. Room is fine, bed comfortable, bathroom has an excellent shower, TV set is awful as is breakfast. Swings and roundabouts.

Longing to be home and esting proper food. Got some venison mince in the freezer I'm keen to make into bolognaise sauce. It'll feed us for at least eight meals.

    Happy Wednesday to everyone.

    Afternoon all,

A bit of a sunny day here which has been a bit cheering :)

Washing on the line and drying nicely.

    RR - Happy Birthday :)
cazmcf - I like Aldi dishwasher tablets as they are all in one or the Daisy ones from Tesco.
Happy Birthday to Donnygal's DH :)

Been into town and got a couple of bits DS2 needs for College. He has his induction day next Monday and starts proper on the 8th.

My dad called in while I was out and has left me a really huge marrow that someone had given him. I'm a bit unsure how we are going to eat the whole thing but I found this and will try it for tea tonight.

Happy b'day RR, hugs to Molly, Hilly, TTFM & hubby.
The twins left just before lunchtime, they were very good, their last feed last night as 10 o'clock, they stirred around 2:30 but didn't want feeding & then slept 'til 7ish. We had thenm for about 24 hours & they were happy most of the time. This time I got puked on more than hubby, last time he had to change his tee-shirt 3 times. I had toast for breakfast y'day but all I managed after that was a few spoonfuls of cold baked beans & a twix so today, after they left I cooked, bacon, sausage, egg, baked beans, mushrooms & tomatoes with bread & butter for us both & we really enjoyed it.
I think most of the rest of the day will be spent on the sofa, staring glassy eyed at the TV! I have manage to run the DW & WM twice today & there is fish pie in the freezer for tea.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

LW Someone tried to steal my friend's dog in the park yesterday. My friend is 80 and her dog is a beautiful working cocker spaniel. She stood her ground and thankfully other people appeared but she is a bit shaken up.
OMG, how awful! I hope friend and dog are both ok.

I have to admit, I tend to take my guests for walks where I'm unlikely to meet other people - but that's because I'm not very good with other humans. I also these days have the dogs' leads attached to a belt round my waist - this is actually because my hands are now too arthritic and painful to hold a lead, specially if the dog pulls, but it would make it somewhat harder for someone to steal the dog.

From what I hear of the ice bucket challenge, I'm very glad I'm not on FB. I don't mind donating to charity as and when I can, but I totally draw the line at doing weird challenges in the process, particularly if someone else is dictating what I have to do. Not on your Nelly!:D
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Just had to pop back in to say that my DH is now officially going back to work next Monday after fourteen months off sick! Even better, he's getting full pay from the start, even though he'll only be working two hours a day initially. 75% of his co-workers have been made redundant, so he's not out of the woods yet - he's virtually unemployable anywhere else because of his age, health problems and lack of mobility, so I'm desperate for him to hang onto this job until he's old enough to retire. I'm not planning to retire for at least 15 years because I love my job but he's always wanted to take early retirement.

I tried to walk home from Salford Quays to Manchester city centre along the canals, but the path scarily disappeared and I got horribly lost - still, I'm learning to find my way much better since I started my self-imposed walking challenge. Very money-saving too! DH has a free disabled bus, tram and local train pass, so he goes on public transport and I walk and meet him wherever we are going. Less money-saving (and less good for my weight loss efforts) is that I discovered a great Italian ice cream place in Old Trafford - I was hunting for a loo and had to stop for a raspberry ripple and Oreo ice cream - a weird but strangely lovely combination :-).

It's so nice having a place to share good news! Hope everyone else is having a good day.
  • jULIAPENGUIN that is good news will keep my fingers crossed for the future. He will certainly need a phased return so it sounds as though they are understanding.

ELONA I just wanted to say good luck tomorrow and I so hope they can offer DH some form of treatment, we all need a little hope. Will be thinking of you.

    Much love

    Afternoon all,

Happy birthday RosyRed and Donnygals OH.

    TTFTM......take iteasy please.

juliapenguin....congrats to OH on return to work.

Elona.......hope the news is good today.

Lovely lunch of roast lamb, roast spuds, carrots, bok choi and butternut squash, plenty left for tomorrow.

Meeting SIL for tapas tonight, trying to get into routine of meeting at least every month for catch up, wont be a late night, dont seem to be able for them any more, had broken sleep lastnight as dogs wanted to go out at 3am and Mossy stayed out for ages, couldnt get back to proper sleep.

Knitting group sparsely attended this morning, children back to school may be reason.

No rain today so far, OH managed to do lawns, very grey and overcast now.

Enjoy the rest of the day, stay safe and well
