The problem with this is that the competition runners will have to put forms into their pages to capture the name / email etc, a lot of them won't know how to do that or wont want to pay someone to do it for them, so I don't see these "Like" comps going anywhere anytime soon.

(The reason you have to like the page is so that the competition runner can actually contact you if you win ... due to Privacy settings some people use, if you enter a competition it could be impossible for the competition runner to inform you that you've won, unless you've liked the page and are receiving updates from it.)

In particular, the section headed "Changes to platform policy"

    In particular, this section:
You must not incentivize people to use social plugins or to like a Page. This includes offering rewards, or gating apps or app content based on whether or not a person has liked a Page. It remains acceptable to incentivize people to login to your app, checkin at a place or enter a promotion on your app's Page. To ensure quality connections and help businesses reach the people who matter to them, we want people to like Pages because they want to connect and hear from the business, not because of artificial incentives. We believe this update will benefit people and advertisers alike.

    Also, another interesting part:
You must not incentivize people to use social plugins or to like a Page.

So, companies holding comps on facebook have to offer the possibility to enter their comp without requiring you to like their page first.
Up until now the Platform Policies stated that Liking a page was a valid form of entry into a competition. However, come November 5th apps will not be allowed to award entries into a sweepstakes or competition by asking a user to Like a page.

ETA: I wonder if this means eventually they'll stop allowing "Like this status" type comps - seeing as they are trying to make the whole thing better for the user (they don't want them liking something they have no interest in)

Hadn't seen these and did look through the first couple of pages of CCC.

received an email from Gleam this morning so, as I hadn't heard about it before, thought I would share.
